End Time Attitude | Pastor John Greiner
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A timely and deeply practical teaching on end-time attitude draws from Psalm 37 and 2 Peter 3 to show how believers can remain steady while the world accelerates toward chaos and judgment. Rather than living vexed by headlines, politics, or the apparent success of evil, the focus turns toward a better response: refusing to fret, resisting envy, trusting God, doing good, delighting in His presence, and entering the rest that faith provides. With vivid insight into the “compression of the ages,” this episode offers a grounded, hope-filled perspective on staying informed without becoming consumed, helping listeners cultivate peace, joy, and spiritual stability in turbulent times.

SPEAKER_01Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity, for they shall soon be cut down as the grass and wither as the green herb. I mean, I'm preaching this to me tonight. You just happen to be here, but I'm preaching to myself. Because I'm tempted every day to fret. I'm tempted every day to get mad. And so I just felt like I had to preach this to myself. So y'all just I know none of you are like that. I know none of you have been tempted by the news or Facebook or whatever. Beware of Facebook. There's a lot of AI fake stuff on there. Also, X. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes until his iniquity be found to be Oh, that's the wrong one. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, whither is green earth. Trust in the Lord and do good. So shall you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord, for he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto him. Trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him. Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath. Fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off. But those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be. Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek, not the weak. The meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of shalom. The wicked plotteth against the just and gnasheth upon him with the teeth. But the Lord shall laugh at him, for he seeth that his day is coming. All right, and uh you might hold your place there because we'll go back to it later, but let's look at 2 Peter chapter 3, verse 10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise. Notice it said the heavens. I mean, you just look up at the moon, the stars, you look at everything you can see on an and at Houston you can't see much of anything. When you go out West Texas to get away from the city, man, you can see the Milky Way. You can see one of the run-ups of my getting saved is having a deer leaves where I could look up there and see how tiny I was, and yet God made me. And he started dealing with me by looking up at the sky. But you guess what? It's all gonna go away. It says it's gonna melt, it's it the heavens will pass away with a great noise, the elements shall melt with fervent heat, and the earth also. Then he talks about the earth. Earth also, and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Everybody shout burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conversation and godliness? Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. Wow. So tonight I wanted to share a message entitled End Time Attitude. Uh the book of James, 2 Peter, Jude are all end time, what we call end time books. They talk about the end times. When you see the day of the Lord, when you see the coming of the Lord, uh I like what Brother Roberts used to illustrate. The coming of the Lord is in two parts. He comes for his saints, and seven years later he comes with his saints. And so people get the two mixed up all the time, and they, you know, they they think this scripture we read, he's coming in a thief in the night. No, not for us, because we're not, we're gonna know he's coming. He's gonna blow the trumpet. He's gonna, he, for all of those that are awaiting his return and looking and loving and wanting him to be coming back and are living as they should. I mean, he's coming for us and we're gonna know it. But this that's talking about here in this part is the coming of the day of God and the second part, which is gonna be the judgment of the damned, the judgment of Satan and the Antichrist and the false prophet, all of those things. He's gonna cleanse the earth of the sin, he's gonna cleanse the earth of the blood, he's gonna cleanse the heavens of the people that worship the heavenly hosts, name all the stars and all that kind of stuff, astrology, and uh, he's gonna cleanse the whole thing. So it asks a question here. What manner of persons ought you to be? You know, what manner of person ought you to be? What uh, you know, I like when you look it up in uh uh the word manner, I like this idea. What possible sort of person shall you be? What possible sort of person shall you be? I mean, God's laughing. He's not upset. He's laughing at at people that are shaking their fist. He's on and on in Psalm 37, he's telling you, hey, they're on slippery ground. I mean, they're they're gonna burn up like the grass tomorrow. Don't be worried about them, don't be thinking about them, other than to get them saved, but don't fret. You know, evildoers often seem to strike it rich. They turn, I mean, that's going on right now, the AI phenomenon and bitcoins and all of the digital world. I mean, there are millionaires, there are billionaires being made right now, and they dress in t-shirts and blue jeans and tennis sheets. I mean, they they don't look at all the part. They don't look old enough, but they're getting vast sums of wealth because this technology is growing faster than you can even keep up. Evildoers often escape consequences. I just think about the people that tried to overthrow this country in 2016 and they're still walking around free. Every one of them should be in Idaho where they've acknowledged that they can now use the firing squad. Did you hear that one? Pastor, you're a pastor, you're not supposed to be so bloodthirsty. I think that's why we have so much trouble that people are so distant away from the death penalty and it happens so seldom that we it's not a deterrent at all. If you had a firing squad every week or a hanging every week, I mean, people that really deserve it, I'm not talking about any innocent people, then you know, I think that you would people would think twice before they do the things they do. But it's but it might tell you something. If they do or they don't, I'm not gonna fret about it. I mean, you know, I'd like to see it, I'd like to see, because justice demands it, but you know, they're not gonna escape eventually. Evildoers often plot to do us harm. Sure do. Lena, Lena Hilardgo. Colombian. She plotted to do us harm. And now she's lost her mind. I mean, you see how she got kicked out of the rodeo a couple of weeks ago? I mean, she's crazy. And the next one that's behind her, we're gonna drive her out of Houston. We're gonna drive her back wherever she belongs. Get out of Houston. You have no future. Anise Parker. We're not gonna go for a second dose of Anise Parker. Somebody asked me this morning, what do you think about the King's uh protest? I said it's antichrist. See, I just use and just cut to the chase. Don't go, don't explain any, just say antichrist. What do you think about Talarico? Antichrist. Just one word sums it all up. You don't have to get mad, you don't have to make a case. Just, and most people are not paying enough attention, but when they hear Antichrist, everybody knows what the Antichrist is. Isn't it funny? Even unbelievers believe in the Antichrist. Let's look at 2 Peter 2, one page over. Let's look at verse 4. God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness to be preserved unto judgment. Spared not the old world, but save Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly, and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly. You can't remind these people about Sodom and Gomorrah. They get all mad. If you call them Sodomites, they you could get hung. But that's what they are. It's in the Bible, which we used to read in school, which we used to depend on for our system of laws. I mean, we let these people steal our country out from under us. We don't hate them, but we're not going to say it's okay to do that. And delivered, verse 7, just Lot vexed with a filthy conversation or manner of life. What sort of people were they? See, that's what that convert conversation. What sort of people, the sort of people that are depraved. It's depravity. There's no other word for it. You can't, you, you know, you just can't excuse it. And when the Supreme Court, which I I hope we can overturn someday, uh allowed homosexuals to marry, and they can't be married. That that's not the definition of marriage. And they cannot be married. They call it that, but it's not that. It's a lie. Pastor, you're mad. Well, I'm not mad. I'm just saying let's let's know what's right. And then you don't have to get all upset. You're on the right side. And we're not responsible for the results. But I'm talking about getting vexed. I mean, the Lot was vexed with the sort of people he had lived with. Well, guess what? He chose that. He should have been out there with Abraham, making peace with Abraham instead. He listened to Mama, and Mama wanted to live in the city. That's my version. You don't have to agree with me. That's not in the Bible like that, but that's how I think it probably happened. I think Mama was tired of the smells of goats. I think she wanted a house instead of a tent. And I think she wanted uh floors instead of sand. And uh they moved to the city, and then she turned into a bag of salt. That's what sort of person she was. So he was vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked. Verse 8, for that righteous man dwelled dwelling among them and seeing and hearing vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds. The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under the day of judgment to be punished. So God knows how to punish evildoers. We don't have to, you know, we can use our influence politically and do the right thing on voting and get the right people in there that will get the right judges that will meet out justice as it comes up. But we don't have to go around protesting and and and rioting and taking matters into our own hands. No, God is God is able to handle every bit of this, and he's got a plan to take care of all the filth that we're seeing. And he's able to deliver us out of that. We don't have to meditate on all that's wrong. That's what I'm my point in. So we're here in the end times. I like what Charles Caps said one time. I heard him preach. And he called this time the compression of the ages. We live in the church age, you know, as soon as Jesus, you know, you can say it's Jesus when he rose from the dead, but really I think more accurately when the day of Pentecost came, you can say the church age, the church age was born. And the church age means that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. It's the easiest thing right now to get saved. Before Jesus, you had to be a Jewish person. And you had to go through all the stuff that Jews do. I mean, they had an endless supply of animals, they had to sacrifice, they had, I mean, they had all kinds of dietary restrictions and all kinds of lit, I mean, they had to report to the temple, you know, and and I mean it was, you know, to be a to be a Jew in righteous standing, it was a lot of work. But suddenly, when Jesus died on the cross and and took away the sin of the whole world, now whosoever should call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. But that's not gonna last because when the when Jesus comes in the rapture, he's gonna take the church off of the earth. Well, where's the Holy Ghost gonna be? Because the Holy Ghost is in the church. So there's no Holy Ghost on the earth. You think it's bad now. We don't want to be around when there's no Holy Ghost. We don't want to be around when everything is turned over to the Antichrist and He begins to do the things that we see in Revelation. So the compression of this church age is like an hourglass. I don't know if you've studied an hour, I've got an hourglass at home that someone made me, and when I turn it over, you know, it it's a little trickle of sand goes through the neck, you know, and it's an hour. It takes one hour for the sand to drain from the top to the bottom in the in one hour. So uh it starts, and you look at it, and between uh 10 minutes you can hardly tell that it that it went down. It's real slow at first. Real slow. And then the lower the sand level gets in the top, and the bigger the sand level gets in the bottom, well now it's beginning to accelerate. Why? Well, because the surface area of the of the cone, as it were, the hourglass, the cone, the surface area shrinks, and so it's it's actually accelerating. The sand is actually moving faster than it did before. I mean, that's my mechanical engineering study coming out, a venturi. And that's what you used to have on cars with carburetors. You had venturies there to accelerate the air mixture going into the engine so the motor would run smoothly. And so as it gets closer and closer and closer to the neck, your sand is competing. Each grain of sand is trying to get through that neck. And I mean, there's a there's a little jostling there. And I mean it's going fast. I mean, the last inch goes pretty fast. I mean, it looks like an acceleration of time as it gets close to the whole thing ending. That's where we are. We're seeing an acceleration of evil. We're seeing an acceleration of the judgment of God at the same time, because he's pouring out judgment right now. Judgment on the nation, judgment on Iran and their evil regime. They better hurry up and make a deal before they all die. They'll all die. I don't know what God's plan is there. I know the nation of Iran, the people of Iran in their past have sown good seed toward Israel. So God's got something in the bank for them. But if they don't rise up, if they don't take their country back, I don't know just exactly what'll happen. I don't have any answer yet. I'm not studying that right now. I'm just, but I am watching. It's just another sign. It's a compression of the age. So all these things are increasing as the day draws near, and so what do we do about it? See, we see it, and even the even the world sees it. I mean, you know, even Hollywood sees it. Well, don't even say Hollywood anymore. They don't do anything in Hollywood, but anyway, Georgia. Even Georgia sees it. Movies are made all over the place besides Hollywood. They can't even work in Hollywood. They're so fouled up in California, and all the studios have been bought out. MGM was bought out by Amazon. It's so fouled up. And uh, so they, you know, there's movie after movie is a disaster movie. They're trying to get you on the idea that it's the end of the world, that the world is going to end this way. I mean, they're fixated on it, have been for years. Fixated on the end times. Something in them tells them, you know, yeah, it's all, and then they don't do anything about it. So, what do we do? Retreat to a fetal position on the bed in the back room, move to a Christian commune. I saw people do that. But in the year 2000, everybody was afraid when the when the time went from 1999 to 2000, the computers wouldn't know what to do and the planes would fall out of the sky. Remember that? And there was a whole lot of, I mean, I saw Christian ministers on television advertising their place in uh Arizona. You could go and buy you a spot there and there. I I know one thing, I'd go somewhere besides Arizona if I was gonna go. If you're from Arizona, I apologize. I've been there, I don't want to go back. All right. Too many rocks. Um, too many, too many cactus, too much cactus. I mean, I I grew up in the land of cactus. So should we be constantly vexed and frustrated and angry? Of course not. And so Psalm 37 answers these questions, end time attitude. So let's go back to Psalm 37, and I'm preaching this again, I'm preaching it to myself because I'm tempted. I do have to keep up as pastor. I can't stick my head in the sand. And I've been doing this so long, and God alerted me to this world that we're living in in a kind of a unique way, and uh ahead of a lot of other folks that I hung with. Most none of the preachers that I talked to were even concerned about things I was concerned about. They didn't want to talk about politics, but somehow God is just not letting me take the easy way out. So I'm tempted to fret, I'm tempted to be angry, I'm tempted, you know, all the ways that you're tempted, because when you see this evil and you're confronted with it, so let's just look at what the Bible says. We're blessed when we do what the word says. If the word says to do it, then we can do it. The word, it wouldn't be right if the word told us to do something, and then we don't have the grace to do it. But we do. All right, so number one, fret not. Fret not. Verse one, Psalm 37. The word fret means to blaze up. I can relate to that one. Wax hot, I can relate to that one. Lose your cool, I can relate to that one. Been out of shape, yeah. All those are fitting me. They're hitting me right in. Well, I have to I have to rule my body. I can't I have to rule my emotions. I can't allow myself to get carried away with what the world is doing and let it affect me that way. You know, so much on the internet is conspiracy theories. People get all upset over something that's not even true. It's fake news. Isn't that a waste of time? It's one thing to get upset about human trafficking or whatever, but here's a conspiracy theory that somebody spun and all this stuff, like Charlie Kirk. I mean, I don't know what happened to those people, but they've they're off the red. Tucker Carlson is nuts. And I don't mind saying it. And what's the what happened to her? She went crazy. So you can't listen to them. And and you, you know, so you you so people get all upset on these conspiracy theories and they they go off on tangents. And uh, you know, don't do that. Don't do yourself a favor and stick with the word, stick with worshiping God, stick with praise, don't fret. Yet we don't want to stick our heads in the stand and be uninformed. We do need a source of information. But you don't sit there and meditate even on the information if it is true. There are some things that are true, but they're not worthy to be meditated on. They're good to know. See, that's the other thing. You ought to know something. That's another thing we're in the church. A lot of people just don't know squat about anything. They don't even, they don't know what's going on. Well, that's not good either. See, there's a balance. What I'm preaching tonight is a balanced approach to life because you on one side you need to be informed, on the other side, you need to stay close to the Lord and recognize that he's gonna give you the grace to get through this difficult time. No matter who's in the White House. Do I want Trump to, I mean, do I want the midterm to turn to our direction? Well, yeah, I do. But I see the other side, and they'll do anything to steal it. They'll do anything. What if they steal it? Well, you know what? Jesus is still going to be on the throne, and I'm not going anywhere. Are you with me now? So stay informed but don't fret. Number two, I find in verse two, uh, or verse one, envy, but be not thou envious against the workers of iniquity, for they shall soon be cut down. Like the grass. So envy not. Envy and covetousness are the Siamese twins from hell. And you envy, wishing you were that person, wishing you had what that person. See, it's it's covetous is more like you want what they've got. And envy is you want to have it easy like they seem to have it. And uh envy and and covetous, there's not much difference between the two, but they're both evil and they're both something that we have to guard against. Saying things like, Well, I wish I could get away with that something every now and then. I mean, every time I do anything, I get caught. Well, that's dumb to say that. Don't say that. Are you trying to get away with something? Really? Because you can't. Forget about it. I mean, God sees everything you do, and you're, and then if He doesn't, your angel does. Your angel's right along there beside you. I wish I had all they had. No, you don't do that. You don't wish you had that. Most of these people are complete basket cases. Who's the gal, Sweet Home Alabama? What's her name? Little Blonde. I've been watching her since she's 12. She was in a movie when she was 12 or 13, the first movie that she came out of. Reese Witherspoon. Okay, so she's about 19, and she got stopped on the side of the road and told the patrolman, Do you know who I am? I'm Reese Witherspoon. And of course, he threw the book at her. I think she had to go to jail. And she said, I, and then she was talking about it later. She said, Oh, I had to go to my therapist. She has a therapist when she's 19. These people are basket cases. No, you don't want to envy them. All right, number three is a positive now. What do we do? Trust in the Lord. And do good. Do good. I like Galatians 6 9. Be not weary in well-doing, for in due season you shall reap if you faint not. Romans 10 21, be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. Get involved in doing good. What's good? Well, Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. What I preached this morning, being a yielded vessel, being a chosen vessel, you get involved in pouring out what God has poured into you to other people's advantage, getting people, you know, encouraged and ministered to and saved. And, you know, getting people saved is your job. Not my job, it's your job. I've done it. I've done the work of an evangelist. I've been overseas. I've done the work of an evangelist, but really your job is to reproduce your own kind. You're a believer, so you should reproduce a believer. I just think about how big this church would be if everybody got one person saved and brought them to church. We'd have to build a bigger building. I don't know. I don't want to think about that. Just got this one paid for. Praise the Lord. So Jesus went about doing good. So trust in the Lord and do good. Get concentrate on all the good you can do. You know, I was talking to James. You know, I had a couple hundred people here for his his uh and thanks for everybody that had uh that helped that day to put it on the 7th Senatorial District uh convention. And uh it was a two-hour meeting instead of a four-hour meeting. Two hours? Oh, you met a long time, but but it only took hours instead of ten. Huh?
unknownIt was eight hours.
Delight In The Lord With Joy
SPEAKER_01Oh, it was eight hours instead of ten. Well, the part that was was easy was was the part that's always contentious. I guess that's my point. I I missed the length of the time the day was, but everybody was energized. No there'd been a I don't think there's been another kind of convention like that anywhere except here at Glorious Way Church. This this the presence of God here, the the kind of leadership that's here. I mean, that is doing good, no matter what the results are in the midterms, whatever happens at the midterms, whatever goes on at the midterms, I'm telling you, I'm not moved away from doing good. We're gonna do good. There was a lot of ministry, a lot of ministry. People getting encouraged. And so we need the church to get more and more and more involved. That's what we need, and that's what's happening with these uh initiatives. So, number three, trust in the Lord and do good. Number four, uh, and verse four, delight yourself in the Lord. Now let's look at delight. See, think about fretting and think about being envious. Now flip it over. What are we supposed to do? Well, we're supposed to trust and do good, we're supposed to delight ourselves. The two polar opposites. So delight yourself in the Lord. Uh be happy about the Lord. Take exquisite pleasure in the Lord. Think about that one. Take exquisite pleasure in the Lord. You know, you can't do that in two minutes or five minutes. You know, sometimes you just have to carve time out and reserve it for him so that you can take exquisite pleasure in him. I mean, in his presence is fullness of joy. Joy. I like what Brother Mark says. Joy is a serious business of heaven.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he said if you're joyful, you don't go like this. I've got the joy of the Lord. I've got the joy, I've got the joy, I've got the joy. The joy of the Lord, joy of the Lord.
Rest In God Amid Politics
God Nullifies Evil Schemes
SPEAKER_01No, you're gonna tap your toe, you're gonna dance a little bit. It might not look pretty, but you dance anyway. I mean, I when I was younger, I used to hop a lot. I'd get to hopping up and down, I'd hop across the front. One time I ran all the way around the lower part of Lakewood Church. Didn't even, I wasn't even breathing hard when I got back, and I was not a runner. The Holy Ghost came by the hand of the Lord came upon me, and I just, it was a demonstration of the Spirit. It was full of joy. I mean, I laughed and giggled all the way around the auditorium. Ushers looked at me like, Whew, what's wrong with him? And the last one is found in verse 7. Rest, rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger. And we're kind of repeating ourselves, but it's repeating because this is the tendency for your flesh. Your flesh is wired to do all the bad stuff. Your flesh is wired to be offended. Your flesh is wired to get angry, your flesh is wired to be envious and covetous. It's wired that way, and you, your spirit, you have to govern those things. And you have to say, no, I'm not gonna do that. I'm gonna take exquisite pleasure in the Lord. I'm gonna rest in him. I'm gonna rest in him. Glory to God. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be. See, I mean, they're they're on slippery ground. No point in getting all worked up. Do I want politics to go our direction? I look at how things are in this country, they're beginning to turn. And of course, then we had to take a detour. Thank God we have a man in the White House that had enough love for this country and not, I mean, I don't think it did his poll numbers or his midterms a lot of good to go into Iran. But he didn't make it on that basis. He did not make a political decision. He made a decision of what's best, not only for America, but for the world. That's what I call a leader. We haven't had anybody like that. And I mean including Reagan, okay? Everybody almost wants to canonize Reagan. Well, guess what? He ain't as good as Trump. Trump's the best that I've ever seen. He's not perfect. Not perfect. I still disagree on some things, but I'm praying for him. We need to pray for him. Pray for our boys. We've got a bunch of troops that we have in position. Now, I don't know if he's gonna commit them or not. I don't know. And that's the point. Nobody knows what he's gonna do. That's the art of the deal. See, he puts everything on the table and lines it up with all the cannons facing you and 10,000 of his Marines facing you and says, now what are you gonna do? You're gonna make a deal? He puts maximum pressure on the adversary. I love it. I love the way he does that. But I'm not I'm not eager to send boys into combat. I I, you know, I think about Afghanistan. I think about Iraq. Brother Pete was there. It's it's no, it's terrible. And these people are dangerous. They they invented the IED, a$30 bomb. It killed thousands of people and mutilated many more than that. Just a$30 roadside bomb. And we couldn't figure out a way to defeat it. So, no, I'm not really, I'm not wanting that to happen, but I do understand what he's doing. He's got his chips out there, he's laid them all on the table. He said, Okay, do you want to gamble? You want to hear, just gamble against this. I'm I'm better, I'm all in. He shoved all the chips to the center, and you hadn't played poker. I'm all in. Maybe some of you. Are you still playing poker? No, I'm not gonna answer. No, rest in the Lord. Faith has a rest. Psalm 37, verse 32. The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand nor condemn him when he's judged. See, we got God on our side no matter what happens. No matter what happens. And then uh Psalm 33, verse 10. The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught. He maketh the devices of the people of none effect. All these schemes that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries and all the rest of these screwball Democrats have made all their little plans and all their little uh subterfuges and everything, all their lies on a constant lie after lie after lie. They've only got lies. They can't, they don't have the truth on their side. And they've got a 98 versus 2% position. They're trying to represent the 2% position and win. And the only way they win is that stupid people are not paying attention, and religious people are offended at something and they don't want to vote because they well, they just voted.
