Its Time For A Reset | Jay Greiner
This message, It’s Time for a Reset, calls believers to step into a fresh spiritual restart by quieting distractions, realigning priorities, and returning to the presence of God. Using practical analogies and scripture, the teaching explains how spiritual interference, busyness, and misplaced focus can steal joy and clarity. Listeners are encouraged to eliminate noise, reset their spiritual “clock” by yielding their time and schedule to God, and rediscover the joy-filled, abundant life Jesus promised.
That's my title tonight. Is it's time for a reset. And so what happens, you know, if you if you get hung on a your phone stops operating right or your computer gets hung up, you have to restart it, right? And sometimes it requires like a firmware upgrade, and some and sometimes basically you have to wait for a little bit of time, right? Before you can use that device. Sometimes our our our server here at the church, I've got to restart it. We all have to wait to access files while it restarts. And so um sometimes those firmware upgrades are a really big deal, and there's really a lot of huge updates that happen. And so that's what is going on in our church right now behind the scenes. It's going on in our staff, it's going on uh and so you you might see if you if you're on any one of our volunteer teams, you're gonna see some reset. We didn't just, you know, uh uh hit go on the whole 2026 calendar. And just because it it sounded good last year, just because it was really successful last year, you know, we didn't just rubber stamp it and add it on for this year, right? So there might be some things that look different. I mean, all the way, everything's on the table, even like summer camp, you know. Um, will we go to summer camp? I don't know. We're gonna we're praying about it, we're believing God, we're we're uh we're seeking his will in literally every single decision. So, you know, if you if you get to like, oh, I used to teach that class, or I used to, man, that's that's you know, I used to love that certain event or whatever. It just it may or may not happen. We're we're gonna do literally every single thing that God, we're gonna wait for God to hear from God about every single decision that we make. Amen. And so uh when you get uh in a church that's been going this long, it's real easy to just keep on doing what you've always done because you've always done it. And God might have left, he might have had another plan a year or two or three ago, and we're just continuing on. Uh uh, and remember that the dream, the the Holy Ghost dream where where the Holy Ghost is is driving the caboose and there's no tracks, right? And and he was a young man driving, and uh, if you can call that driving, but anyways, and so we're gonna be uh quick to obey and steer wherever God needs us to go. And so uh pastor went to Galveston recently, and he came back to our staff and poured that into us and laid hands on us, and and basically we're going through a spiritual reset. And so uh, in order, so so I wanted to preface that by letting you know what's going on behind the scenes, but it requires so let's just use me as an example. It's easier to use myself than somebody else. So the the ministries that are under me, they're never gonna change if I don't change. If I don't personally go through a reset, there's no reset coming to the audio and the video team and the and the gatekeepers. There's that's it's never gonna get past my dad's pouring and pouring and pouring the Holy Spirit's pouring into him, he's pouring into us. But if I don't change, and I'm I'm gonna, it's it's it's not gonna happen. And so it takes all of us going through this spiritual reset. And so since we're going through, you're entering into the you know, this is the first Sunday night of a brand new year, let's just reset together. And so um that's what God put on my heart. I'm not I'm not jumping ahead of my dad. I'm not saying that this is the year of the reset, I'm not, but it is, and uh, and he and God's like, you know, gonna show him what it really is, but you know, and we're gonna grab a hold of that. Um and so what I haven't told him, and um is let's see, the Saturday before the Christmas production, whatever day that was, um, Dr. Ghee called me um from um where are they at again? Um not Germany, but next door. Um Belgium, thank you. How can I forget that? Belgium chocolate. They bring us Belgium chocolate chocolate when they come back. But anyways, uh he called me and he already like was going through what God gave him for the new year. And it was like a six-point message. And I'm driving in the truck on the way to church, and I get I pull in the parking lot and I just start, you know, typing out all the notes that I can possibly as fast as I can type. He's preaching, you know, and and uh and everything that he shared was right in line with what God is showing my dad, but I can't put those two together yet because it will pollute the process that that we have here, right? Of of the Holy Spirit pouring into our pastor, right? And so uh Mr. Jimmy over here understands, and so um I'm I'm I'm careful to be a vessel that uh that can that can receive both things and know that one day that day's coming when they're gonna get to compare notes and be like, yes. And so uh it really is, it was total confirmation. And so um, so there's some puzzle pieces moving around and shifting around, and so all of us need to be ready for change. And so I'm ready for change. Uh, I'm not gonna be standing in the way of what God's doing when God is doing a new thing, amen. Don't you see it? Yeah, amen. And Isaiah talks about that. I love the way the message Bible puts that, but uh, and then just personally, what I've been going through lately is just um, you know, John 10, 10, 9 and 10. Let's read it in the amplified classic. John 10, verse 9. Um, Jesus says, I am the door, anyone who enters in through me will be saved or will live. He will come in and he will go out freely, and I and will find pasture. There's pasture here. There's because Jesus is here, and we're all about Jesus. You're gonna find refreshing pasture right here. And the verse 10, the thief comes only in order to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I know most people, most of us can quote this verse. We've heard it and we've heard it and we've heard it, but I'm telling you, let's just get something different out of it. Let's let's squeeze on it a little bit and meditate on it. The thief comes. So, whatever you're facing in your life, if you're facing things that are stealing from you, killing you, trying to kill you, trying to destroy you, trying to destroy your work, your efforts, your energy, it's from the enemy. It's not from God. God didn't send that. And so you identify that as the enemy, right? And then you know how to pray. And you have the authority, right? But Jesus said that I came that they might, so you and me, right, may have and enjoy life. And so I like it right there in the Amplified. Enjoy life. And that slapped me across the face a few weeks ago when I was reading this in the Amplified. I'm not enjoying life enough. I'm allowing the devil to steal my joy. I'm I'm getting a little dry and a little crispy, and I'm a little bit too busy to spend time with God. And I'm working for God, but I'm not spending enough time. Not that I was spending zero, but you know, I had just let the pressures of life come in, and and Pastor Joseph was noticing. I was smoke was coming out of my ears, and I was getting a little frustrated and flustered every now and then. And uh, and that's because I wasn't enjoying life. And that word life is Zoe life. That's the God kind of life. And so we're not here to like enjoy parties and and alcohol and do all the the what the work that's not fulfilling at all. And so what God has for us is very enjoyable, and all we have to do is step into it, and then it puts a smile on our face because there's an ease to it, and it's not complicated, and it's not impossible, and it's not 15 things that you gotta do to obtain this. You just gotta believe that he is and that he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. And so it was just debate getting back to the basics for me to enjoy life, and I made a decision that I in 2026 am gonna enjoy life. I don't care how many events we do in the same week, I don't care how many things that are going on, and we're we're gonna we're not gonna do that, and uh, but I'm gonna enjoy life, and you're gonna enjoy it right along with me. We're gonna enjoy it together, we're gonna have some a lot of fun together, right? And we're gonna celebrate what God is doing, and um and and then it's so I'll finish reading this. Enjoy life and have it to abundance, to the full till it overflows. Is this Zoe life overflowing out of you? Is it obvious those that the to the people that you come in contact with, or are you just as mad and frustrated as they are? Are you just as distracted as they are? Do are you entering into all the same uh entertainment to till you know you're just trying to check a box, come to church, get home, and just be entertained and more entertainment and more video games or sports or football or golf or whatever it is. No, let's let's enjoy the presence of God and let's take this atmosphere everywhere we go and change people's lives and fill this place up. It's not about filling this place up, it's about filling heaven up. But we got to tell people about Jesus, right? And so, and enjoy life. So, uh, and stop allowing the devil to steal our joy. So, I just have some steps that we can take in order to restart or reset in our lives. And number one uh is eliminating the interference. So we need to eliminate the interference, and so that so I think that my pastor taught about that, but then he also taught about it in um in our staff meeting. But John 10, 27 through 30, I'm gonna just read a little bit later in that same chapter. Jesus is still talking, and he says, the sheep that are my own hear and are listening to my voice. How many of you realize there's a difference between hearing and listening? And then you got to take the next step and obey, right? You can't just leave it there. Uh and and I know them. Jesus knows us. God knows everything there is to know about us. He knows more about what you want than you know what you want. And he's placed that desire in your heart. If you just allow him to make adjustments in your heart, and if you'll just be malleable to his will and to his way, it is so fulfilling that you don't have to have the same depression and the same stress and the same worry. Stress is just worry, right? Which is a lack of faith. And uh, let's see, verse 28. Uh, well, and they follow me. I'll finish 27. 28. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages, and no one is able to snatch them out of my hand. My father who has given them to me is greater and mightier than all. He is greater and he is mightier than all. Amen. And no one is able to snatch them out of my father's hand. I am and I and the father are one. And so um, you know, eliminating the interference, you can hear his voice. It's not complicated. All you have to do is shut off the noisy environment that's around you. You know, this past week we had a little family vacation, family getaway planned, and Allison got sick and wasn't able to go. We had to leave her behind. I know that sounds terrible, you know. She had fever and everything, and we just left. But uh we had made some payments that we couldn't get back and didn't have trip insurance, so we're I wasn't about to let that go. So we had to weigh everything. So we swung through San Antonio, picked up my cousin, uh, Christina. She's healed of some disabilities and some mobility issues. I know that most of y'all know who who she is. So we so we took her out to this house in the Fredericksburg area, and it's just a whole different. My lips were chapped in the first five minutes. I mean, it's so dry out there, and and it didn't rain. There's not a drop of moisture in the air, but the weather was just perfect and it's so quiet. There's no fireworks, there's no cars, there's no racing motorcycles. I we live right off of 249, and so there's just one race after another up 249 every night, and it's just, you know, during COVID, all of that stopped, and it was like we also live right over the incoming uh for Intercontinental Airport. So there's one plane after another, literally right over the house. And so um, I love airplanes, but uh I just it was great to just take a break from all of the noise, and um and so we just enjoyed the presence of God, enjoyed the presence of each other, and and played a lot of games, and but we did seek the Lord about uh uh 2026. And um, but one other story about you know, recently I became a ham radio operator. Does there happen to be any ham radio operators in the house tonight? Am I the only one? I think I think I might be safely to say, but I got into HF, which is uh high frequency, which is literally low frequency, even though they call it HF. But, anyways, Selena told me not to preach about ham radio, that I will lose y'all. But I hung a random wire. It's a it's a half-wave N-Fed antenna, but it's just a wire across the backyard. She didn't even complain about it. I thought she was gonna complain about it, but uh ran some coax through the window, hooked up the radio, and I'm talking all over the world, and it's really cool. Like my third contact was in Caracas or something, way down by Venezuela, right? And so, you know, um, so so it was just it's neat to just that's what is exciting to me about it, is just you I run this random wire, I'm talking, everything's fine, I'm talking to all kinds of people all over the place. And then what happened? Christmas lights. So as soon as the Christmas lights came, massive interference. I'm trying to die, I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of all that so I can hear again. And the noise floor is huge, and all I hear is you know, I'm talking to this guy in North Carolina, he can completely hear me, but I can barely pick him out of the noise. And it's just because of the interference of where we live. We're in the, I know they say the fourth largest, but I if they would count like all the illegals, we would be the third largest city in America, wouldn't we? And it's and it's packed, it's jam-packed, it's getting it's getting more jam-packed. But uh, and so what what do we have to do? You know, so there's some natural steps I could do to be able to hear again on the radio, but there's some natural things that you can do to hear supernaturally from the Lord, right? And so um you you when we quiet our inner world and and uh we can position ourselves to be led of the Lord, and that is just spending more and more time with with him. And so that cousin that I picked up in San Antonio allowed me to see my Aunt Sylvia again. I hadn't seen her in forever. And uh that's my uncle Bob's wife, that's my my dad's older brother who's now in heaven. A lot of y'all know the family, some of y'all don't. I won't draw a family tree, but that's my way of honoring my uncle that's in heaven, is kind of taking care of his family and staying connected. And uh, and I got to tell my I got to reminiscing a little bit on the trip, and so I got to tell my Aunt Sylvia this story. Uh, but at the funeral, uh at the reception after his funeral, Selena and I were busy, and we we were the last people to come in to the reception, so all the tables were full, and even my kids were sitting with the other family members, but there wasn't any room left for us, and so we sat at the table of my uncle's neighbors. And one lady that lives that lived next to him uh told this story of how every morning he gets out in the backyard and begins to pace and pray. And she knows he's praying, but she's like, I can't understand that language that he's that he's talking, and uh, and how it was he was like a clock, faithful, every morning, out the door, walking, pacing, praying, reading, reading his Bible, and uh, and it just spoke volumes to me that I don't do that enough. Obviously, I I read my Bible and I pray, but I had stopped, you know, I'd given in to hey, it's humid outside, I don't want to go outside. But man, there's something about getting outside, even when it is hot and humid. When you beat the sun, usually, unless it's August, it's really not that bad. And there's a certain place in my backyard that I found that blocks the sun that's coming up, you know, when it's six or seven in the morning, it's just it's perfect. And uh, right as the sun's coming up, there's enough light to read my Bible. I need that light, but anyways, um and so just spending time with God outside, pacing around and and praying, and so uh that's a game changer for me. But find what works for you. You don't have to copy. Um, my uncle or me or my dad does the same thing. He paces all over the place on his back patio while he's praying. And uh, but you don't have to copy that, but do what works for you. Get alone with God, shut your device off. I I always like to have my phone with me because I like to take notes, and those notes live with me, right? Because your phone goes everywhere with you. But sometimes your phone is a distraction. If you're using that device to open up and read the Bible, the chances of you making it to the Bible app before your email and your text and the 58 million other things that's going on is really small. And so just I encourage you, just have a notebook, write things down. Old school. And so, and and so in Psalm 63, uh one through eight, it says, Oh God, you are my God. Earnestly will I seek you, my inner self thirsts for you, my flesh longs and is faint for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water. And so sometimes God leads it, leads us out. You know, we think desert in the in the Bible of like desolate, but really it's just a desperate area where you where nothing else matters except what is essential, right? When you're alone in the desert, all you need is water and food and you need to survive, right? And so you need God to survive. And so sometimes God leads you in places where it's not literally a desert, right? But it's it's it's a place for you to long and get everything you can from him and seek him first and prioritize him first. And so don't allow that time to make you nervous. You know that he is your source, he's your source for everything, amen. And I I'll I could go down if you have time later, read all the way down to verse 8. Uh, I'll read verse 8. Uh, my my whole being follows hard after you and clings closely to you. Your right hand upholds me. And so uh uh David is describing thirst right there, and hunger becomes holy when it drives you to God. You know, if you're hungering after the world, if you're lusting after the flesh, that's that's never gonna satisfy you. And so your your um let's see, you're somewhere, it's maybe it's in my notes, but your yeah, there it is. Your flesh wants satisfaction, your soul wants comfort, but your spirit wants God, it wants all of God, and so turn off the voice of your flesh, turn off the voice of your emotions. And turn on the voice of your spirit and listen to your spirit because your spirit is crying out for more and more and more of God. And like I said earlier, it's not uh it's not complicated to stir up your hunger and your thirst and your desire for more than God. It hunger is not a feeling, it's a decision. And so you need to, you know, we say that a lot about love, right? That love is not a feeling, it's a decision. And so the same thing you can say the same thing about hunger. Hunger is a decision. To being being hungry for God is just about stirring up your spirit, stirring up everything that's inside of you to long after what God has for you. And um, you know, uh allow your hunger for God to be like a compass. And then and then He can lead you through that time into what He has for you, amen. And so uh it's that discipline of seeking Him early in the morning that that fuels your desire for more of Him, amen. And so if you find yourself Um lacking your desire to either spend time with Him or you find yourself frustrated or you find yourself Um, you know, at the end of your rope, at the end not knowing what else to do, just feeling like you're gonna give up. That's just a sign that you need to spend more time with Him. And it's really that simple. Turn some praise and worship on. Get in your prayer closet, stop ignoring the one answer that you need to get over what you're going through. And so He is greater and mightier than whatever situation that you're facing. And it's just having that discipline to get in your prayer closet where he can speak to you, like my dad preached this morning. He he raised up you know the Bible and just this is God's word, this is God's will, and it's right here and it's specific just for you, just for me. And so, uh, how can anything else change if I'm not willing to change and to do uh what God has in store for me? Amen. And so um, hallelujah. So in Psalm 42, we just sang it, as the deer pants for the water, uh so my soul longs after the Lord, amen. And so um what you crave, it shows what you're focused on. So if you're craving more and more stuff, like Selena did a really good job in the offering this morning about talking about stuff and the love of stuff and the love of money and the love, you know, if if if stuff has you and the desire for more and more and more, um, that's that's what you're craving, and you can see that that's gonna end in destruction real quick. And then that that there's no way to satisfy that, that there's no um bank account in the world that, you know, I I heard the testimony of a famous uh movie producer, and he created his first movie or two, and he had millions and millions of dollars in the bank, and so he shut it all down with just two movies, and he moved to some island and he started to buy the island, and he got like three months into a party atmosphere because he could buy anything that he wanted, and he realized really quick that's not satisfying, and he made a phone call, he fired it all back up, and he went to making movies, and and uh, anyways, that some are pretty decent. You would um the Medea movies is who I'm talking about, and we can, you know, Tyler Perry. But just all of us could reach a point of of being um unsatisfied with what the world has to offer, amen. And so uh sitting on your hands, if if you think that's your dream, is to just win the lottery so you can sit on some mountaintop somewhere and not do anything, that's not ever going to be satisfying. That's all I'm trying to say. So um, so quietness exposes uh what was always there, but was drowned out. So you just need to be quiet. You need to get into a quiet place and um into the secret place that God has for you and to seek his face and not just his hand, like I said earlier, and uh get to his secret place. And and that's when distractions fall away and your destiny becomes clear in that moment. Amen. And so, number two, reset your clock. Reset the clock. You know how many of you uh when the time changes, maybe you're looking at an old clock. We we have this big clock in the office that for whatever reason it takes us forever to change it after the time changes, and it will totally mess me up. I'll be we'll be in the middle of a meeting and I'll look up and I think it's a certain time and it's not anywhere near correct. And so then my whole my whole day is like, it it's not 10:30, it's 11:30, really? And so, man, and so uh, you know, we all need to set our clock, and I and it's just something that I did recently is I went back and I read in Genesis 1, and I I yeah, I won't read the whole chapter, especially because I put it here in the Amplified Classic, and so we might be here a while, but uh, but how about we read just like two days worth, right? So in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and an empty waste, and a darkness was upon the face of the very great deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters, and God said, Let there be light, and there was light, and God saw that the light was good, and he approved it, and God separated the light from the darkness, and he called the light day, and the darkness night, and there was evening and there was morning and one day. And then if we skip down to verse fourteen, God says, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens, and to mark seasons, days, and years. Verse 15, and let them be light in the expanse of the sky and give light upon the earth, and it was so, and God made the two great lights, the greater light, the sun, to rule the day, and the lesser light, the moon, to rule the night, and he also made the stars, and God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth, and to rule over I like that, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness, and God saw that it was good, and he approved it, and there was evening and there was morning, and that was the fourth day. So on the fourth day, he basically created time. And with all, and then my dad happened to mention that this morning, and so you know that God, if God created time, that you can trust him with your schedule. And in fact, you can yield your entire schedule to him. And you say, wait, my boss is really strict, we have all these rules, we got deadlines. What are you talking about? You know, God can work through those as well. If you would just lean, instead of trusting in your boss, or instead of trusting where you work for your paycheck, if you would just trust in God, God can work around that schedule. But why? Because he created all of time. And if you just uh go go into your schedule yielding to his will and his way, instead of just what your boss says, I'm telling you, it will make you a better employee. Why? Because you're working unto the Lord, right? We forget that sometimes. We forget, we get too busy trying to please our boss, maybe, instead of pleasing God, that it just pulls us out of position of being blessed. But I'm telling you, uh, when you please God, it's possible to also be a good employee. Amen. And so um, there it is, God created and on day four, he created all of time. So stop stressing about time. Stop doing things out of obligation, stop stretching yourself to meet other people's issues and problems and try to fill that into your day and to your schedule, but instead realize that your schedule belongs to Him, that everything that you say and everything that you do, your actions are your schedule, right? You know, you can only fill in so many different different actions. Whoops, then you spill the water. How about we drink some? And so I think I was banging on the pulpit too much. But um, you know, so so he controlled, if he if you're yielded to him, man, he's gonna cause you to, he's gonna multiply that time, amen. Because he owns it all. So then on day six, he created uh humans, he created us, he created mankind, and heaven came down to earth. And so um, I'm telling you, just uh what we need to do is to reset our clock. And then number three, just simply you know, we need to come to Jesus. And so Matthew 11, 28 through 30 says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls. And then 29, take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle, I am meek, I am humble, lowly in heart, and you will find rest, relief. How many of you need relief tonight? Ease, refreshment, recreation, and blessed quiet. How many of you just need peace in your soul? How many of you, your mind is all stirred up and you lay down at night and you can't seem to shut it off, and you just keep on thinking about all the wouldas and the couldas and the should's, and you're overwhelmed with what you have to do tomorrow, and you got to get this done and that done, and what if this doesn't work out? And what if that doesn't work out? Take up his yoke, let it go. Tonight is a good night for that. And so, um, in fact, Selena, why don't you come join me real quick while I finish, while I finish reading here? You will find rest, refreshment, recreation, blessed quiet for your souls. For my yoke is wholesome, it's useful, it's good, it's not harsh, it's not hard or sharp or pressing, but it's comfortable, it's gracious, it's pleasant, and my burden is light and easy to be borne. In other words, it's easy to get underneath it and put it on and do it. It's easy. There's an ease to it. It's not hard, it's not difficult, it's not impossible, it's not something that you have to strive for, it's not something that you have to stress out over, it's not something that you have to wonder about and be confused about and scratch your head over because it's a supernatural spiritual thing. And so get your thoughts and your brain out of the way and grab a hold of what God has for you.
