Our Deliverer | Jay & Selena Greiner
In this inspiring episode, we dive deep into Psalm 91, exploring the theme of God as our Deliverer. Through powerful teachings and personal stories, the hosts unpack how trusting in God, clinging to His word, and confessing His promises activates His protection, provision, and victory in our lives. From overcoming fear and despair to walking in honor, promotion, and abundant life, listeners are encouraged to see beyond circumstances, claim their authority in Christ, and embrace the Zoe life God has promised. This episode is a reminder that God is always the way out, always the answer, and always faithful to deliver and satisfy those who set their love and trust upon Him.
Let's say this together. Say, Heavenly Father, we're grateful for your word. We're men and women of your word. And we honor you tonight. You are a high tower. You are a deliverer. You're our shield. You're our buckler. In you we trust. And we're not in awe of what the devil is doing all around us. But we stand in awe of you. And all the ways you're blessing us and causing us to stand through every situation. We have the victory in Jesus' name. Amen. And so uh this I kind of started this on Sunday morning during the offering, but uh we're gonna be reading out of Psalm 91, and our title tonight is Our Deliverer. Amen. You know that because it's on your screen if you're watching online. But those of you here, our title is Our Deliverer. And we're starting out in Psalm 91, and we'll just go ahead and start in verse 1. It says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High. We can all quote this, right? Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. And then right away you have some word of faith principles, even in the Old Testament coming through. Because verse 2 says, I will say of the Lord. You know, this whole chapter, it's the protection chapter. We've printed it on cups and given them away to law enforcement officers. You know, Brother Pete uh was in the army for many, many, many years, and he printed it all over all kind of stuff and got it embroidered on all kinds of different different things and and uh sent it to soldiers and and uh it's a it's our protection, but it all hinges on what you're saying. It's so important what you allow to come out of your mouth and watch this what he says. He says, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him I will trust. And so the whole key is what you're saying, your confession of faith. Confession means to say the same thing as and agree with, right? And so it's so important for us to know the word in these last days, to know the word of God and be able to quote the word of God, and that's that's important, but it's also important to confess the word of God. And if you're just saying what the word is on the on the page, that's the logos of the word. And that you yes, you are confessing the word, but when you put make it personal and you receive a rhema word of God, and you begin to confess that rhema word out of your mouth, you're saying the same thing as, but you're agreeing with the word. And so that's what's happening here through this psalm of David. He's he's taking verse one and then he's expounding on it and he's making it personal. He's saying, He is, God is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I will trust, I do trust. And so when you confess the word of God, you're uh you're activated in your authority in Christ, and all of heaven's authority backs you up. Amen. And so I just want to point out in verse one the word dwell means to sit down, to stay, to remain, to spend significant time with. It's an intimacy, right? It's drawing near. In the New Testament, in the Hebrews, it says that if we draw near to God, God draws near to us. And so that's not an impossible situation. That's not, he doesn't, God doesn't make it impossible for for you to draw near to him. It's just a very simple thing. It's a heart thing where you're turning your heart towards him, right? And so um we are spending significant time with the word secret place, uh, he who dwells in the secret place of the most high, that's covering, that's shelter, that's a hiding place. Amen. And so we we get to abide. The word abide shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. That's again intimacy, but it means abide means to cause to rest. And so I was talking to somebody here just today who's having a hard time sleeping. And I'm telling you, when you draw into the secret place, man, you there's rest there, there's refreshing there for your whole soul, your mind, your will, your intellect, your, and your body. And it also means, I love this one, this meaning of the word abide. It means to pass the night. In other words, in the midnight hour, when the devil is trying his best, his best is not enough. You're passing through the night, you're abiding right there in the presence of Almighty God. Amen. Even in the Old Testament, you know, we we we have his glory here, the glory of God. We're carriers of his glory, we're New Testament beings, we're in Christed with and we're beings that never before existed. Amen. And we know that. So we're abiding. We're we're passing the night. We're causing, he's causing us to rest. Amen. And so in the Passion Translation, it says, uh, when you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God most high. He's the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence. He is our great confidence. Say that together. He, you are my great confidence. You are my great confidence. So we're trusting in the Lord. Amen. And so that's really our kind of our first point is to remember to put your trust in God. And so the real text that we want to get to tonight is starts in verse 14. Selena, if you want to go ahead and read those the last three verses are key, and that's where we're gonna dwell tonight. I mean, the whole uh we can dwell on the whole chapter, but but for just time's sake, we're gonna stick to these four verses or five verses rather, but uh starting at verse 14.
SPEAKER_01:Psalm 91, 14 through 16 says, Because he has set his love upon me, therefore I will deliver him, I will set him on high, because he has shown my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. And so, number one, he delivers you. Uh yeah, we we do. We put our trust in God. Um, so back to verse 14, because he has set his love upon me, therefore I will deliver him. And so it doesn't say I'll try, it says I will. And so God keeps his word. You know, he's the performer, we're the believer. Our job is to believe. That's faith. That's what it's called faith. Um, and that's what pleases God. And um, and so a lot of times we get into the well, I want to do it. I don't see the, I don't see the answer yet. And I don't see that circumstance changing. So I want to, you know, take charge and do it. No, God, yeah, jump ahead. But we're the we're we're the believer. Our job is to uh put faith in God, to trust God. And so um I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. And so uh and so he delivers you. What does he deliver you from? What's he delivered you? Uh he's delivered us from all kinds of things, um, sin, uh, bad habits, emotional um instability, different things. Like he's delivered us from so much.
SPEAKER_00:Darkness, utter darkness, yes, despair.
SPEAKER_01:Darkness, despair. And so because he loves me, so the verse says, because he loves me, the Hebrew word for love means to cling to, to hold fast or to attach oneself to. So let me say that again. That word means to cling to, to hold fast, and to attach oneself to. And so it describes a deep, loyal, committed love. Not just an emotion, um, but an attachment and allegiance to God. One commentary that I read says our present culture often thinks of love as something that happens to people, not something chosen. So a lot of times we think of this natural love, it just happens to people. It's not, no, love is a choice. We have to allow uh God's love to overtake whatever situation we're going through. And so he promises, he promises us protection here as directed to those who cling to him. If you, if you cling to him, then you are protected. If you trust, if you're loyal to him, then you are protected, right? You can't just like say give him lip service, oh I love you, God, but then not be loyal to him, then you're under, you're not under the shelter. So the shelter is his love for you. And so, and but then we have a part to play, our loyalty to him. And so when you're loyal, when you trust him, that's where you're protected, and that's where um his promise of protection, where it talks about in Psalm 91, um, is to those who cling to him, uh, to hold fast, to attach yourself to God, right? And so we have to make sure um that we attach ourselves to God. And so in the new living in the verse 16, it says, I will rescue those who love me, I'll protect those who trust in my name. And so God's personally involved with you, He's not just distant. Um and so, and to rescue means to deliver from danger, distress, or trouble. And so he delivers us from all of that. Acts 10, 38 says, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit, with power and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who, yep, all who were pressed by the devil, for God was with him. And so God's desire is to deliver you, not to condemn you.
SPEAKER_00:All means all.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, everything people condemn. People lord it over you. People uh may see your past mistakes and or may see your present, and they they can they they're the ones that can be tempted to, you know, condemn or but God's not like that. God doesn't lord it up, God sees you as white as snow. God loves you and has a purpose for you, and so he's here, his desire is to deliver you from darkness into light, from from despair into his glorious love for you. And so he is a delivering God. And so the same God who anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit, hey, you know what good news? He's anointed us, he's anointed you, right? And so you bring that deliverance to others around you. Um, and so it's inside of us, it's inside of you. And so I want to encourage you with that to not lose uh sight of that in the daily where um you know things get tough, but no, he's called us, he's he's in the delivering business from darkness to light. Amen.
unknown:Amen.
SPEAKER_00:That's so good. I love the way she uh connected uh clinging to God. You know, clingy seems to be like a negative turn if turn term if you're a clingy person, but we're to cling to God. You know, uh God's grip on us is his grace, and uh got uh our grip on God is our faith, and God's grip on us is always greater, his grace is always greater.
SPEAKER_01:It makes me think, oh, sorry to interrupt you. When clingy, what makes it, you know, we have a a a little baby here around in the office. Now she's walking around. Hannah is her name. We love little Hannah.
SPEAKER_00:Stick her up here with us tonight. I know she was working with her mama late, late and she was sleeping and she just woke up.
SPEAKER_01:I was like, Hannah, do you want to be on live stream with us? And she was still waking up, and but she clings to her mama, that's her protection, that's where her food comes from, that's where she and her daddy, right? But um that she clean just like a little child clings to their parent, that's they find protection, they find peace. And so we're like that, we we need to cling to God. But so many of the times we grow up and we and and we um circumstances and we we grow apart, and but no, God wants us to cling, just like a little kid clings to their parents, that's how we should always be clinging to our heavenly father.
unknown:Amen.
SPEAKER_00:Amen. So, number two, just picking it up in verse 14, like where we've been, because he has set up his love upon me. In other words, because you have set your love upon him, you've set you've set your love, you're you've set your affection, you've set your priority, you've set your highest thinking on him, to think his thoughts. You're committed to be to to cling to him and not let go. And again, when you draw near to him, he draws near to you. It's not an impossible thing, it's not a hard thing. You know, so number one was was that he will deliver us, but this is number two, that he will set us on high because we have known his name. And so, how many of you know his name? You call upon his name, amen. And so I just wanted to point out that promotion comes from the Lord, amen. It comes directly from the Lord, and I will be honest with you. Uh, I mean, that there's no reason to hide this, this is a good thing, but most some of these points, most of these points tonight came out of the faith foods devotion. It just slapped me in the face a few days ago when I started reading how Brother Hagin laid this out. And and uh I I've heard my dad preach this message, I've heard John Osteen preach this message, and just right out of the end of Psalm 91, and it's like, oh, that's a message right there. I'm gonna pick that up. But promotion comes from the Lord, and so you need to look up for promotion. You know, sometimes you're trusting in your boss, or you're just you think you put God in a box, you limit him in your thinking of how you can you you see a destination that you want to go to and you want to hurry up and get from point A to point B. You don't realize it's about the journey of faith and God carrying you and you relaxing and leaning back into him and allowing him to promote you and noticing that your promotion comes from him, and all you got to do is look up and surrender to his will. And when you do that, boom, he is right there. Uh, you're and you're seated in heavenly places in Christ. It's already been done, he's already given you all of his same authority, the same authority that God gave Jesus, he's given to you, and all of heaven backs you up. All of heaven backs me up when I pray, when I confess the word, going back to what we were saying earlier about confession. So act like you have it's not something you pretend to do, but I'm telling you, we get so defeated, we get so down, we get so limited on what uh on how to get from point A to point B, and we limit God in our thinking, we limit God even in our prayers. We just pray these little short prayers. God bless me, God heal me, God, no, let's go deeper and let's lean back and know that all promotion comes from Him, and it starts with trusting Him, right? That was kind of our our pre number one was to trust God. So it all it starts with trusting, amen.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and um you know, promotion, you know, again, with like we can try to promote ourselves and we can um, you know, at the end of the journey, yay, I got promoted, but how many people did I take out on the way? Right? How many, how many dead do I have around me, wounded and and distraught, but yay, I'm promoted, yay. And so there's a way, there's God, God promotes us. We don't have to promote ourselves through humility. Um again, uh I taught on being a servant a while back, and and you know, um at the end of our our journey, well done, God, you want to you want to hear well done, that good and faithful servant, not not boss, not no at all, not with the title, servant, right? And so yes, God promotes us, and so we want to make sure that in the journey that we're not promoting ourselves, um, even when life gets hard and you get past looked over and um things aren't right and and things aren't done right or said right. Keep your heart, right? Keep your heart because God see the thing is God sees it all, right? God sees it all, and so he will promote you, even if you if man demotes, but you know what? We're not looking to man for promotion. Who are we looking to? We're looking to God for promotion. So his promotion looks a little different than God, then sorry, than man's, right? And so we want to make sure to keep our heart um and and that know that promotion comes from the Lord, not from man.
SPEAKER_00:That's right. And number three, God is always the answer. So in verse 15, we'll uh he shall call upon me and I will answer him. So Jeremiah 33, verse 3 says, To call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not. And so God is always the answer. He's always right here, he is a very present help in trouble. Now faith is, we have now faith. We we know exactly who we're believing in and why we believe it, and our faith is activated in him, and he answers us every time. He never leaves us hanging, he's he's a right now, right on time God. And so you never feel you have to feel abandoned. You he said he'd never leave us nor forsake us, so you're not forsaken, you're not lost, you're not undone, you're not stuck, you're not waiting. Grab a hole. If you feel that way, it's enough, it's a feeling, it's an emotion. And he does care about our feelings, he cares about our emotions, but he sends the Holy Spirit every time who's not afraid of any mess. Psalm 40 says that he's rescued you us out of that mess and set our feet upon a rock and made our footsteps firm. So he grabs a hold of your elbows and he yanks you out of that mess, and you don't have to live in a mess any longer. You don't have to live on the struggle bus any longer. You know, I've done that before, but the air brakes are on and the door's opening and step off and get on the Holy Ghost joy bus. Amen. And take a seat in on your seat of authority. Hallelujah. John 16, 23 through 24 says, Verily, verily, I say unto you. Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Ask, and ye shall receive that your joy may be full. And you can you can be blessed every time your joy is full. Amen. And so um we have his joy. And joy again is not a feeling. Amen.
SPEAKER_01:It comes from our spirit. It's a superpower. Yes. Joy is a superpower. And I think a lot of times it's just uh forgotten about. And uh, but joy is your superpower. Nobody can take that away from you. You even in in dire circumstances, you can laugh. And it's not that you're being fake, you're just you're doing the word, right? You're laughing through all the stuff, through all the mess. You're just laughing and being joyful and um knowing that that gives you strength, that that's your superpower, being joyful. And number four, God is always the way out. God is always the way out. And so, um, and I said this earlier, rescue. So one translation says rescue him. Rescue means to deliver from danger, distress, or trouble. And so I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him. Verse 15, yes. Yeah, verse 15. And so Jesus said, Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Be of good cheer. It sounds like a command. Be of good cheer.
SPEAKER_00:Right?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, right. In this world we will have tribulation, but be of good cheer.
SPEAKER_00:Why? Because he has overcome the world. So all we have to do is relate and be in our identification in Christ, knowing that he's the overcomer. There since he overcame, we've overcome every situation, yeah, every circumstance, every emotion, every negative thought, every every uh every single person that, like Selena was saying earlier, that speaks against you, that comes against you, that wants to point out every mistake, every and you know, your flesh, even even around here, like we can get in the flesh.
SPEAKER_01:We you've seen you maybe have seen some of us get a little mad. Stuff doesn't go right around here. She's talking about me. No, am I talking about you? No, or even at home, seriously. No, and talking about me, talking about me also. God is always the way, even through the frustration. Seriously, we do. We all get frustrated. Like, y'all, right? Raise your hand. You don't have to raise your hand. We get frustrated. Raise your hand, raise your feet. Um, we get frustrated, but God says, be of good cheer through that. And so our flesh has these tendencies of wanting just to get mad and be like a baby and throw a fit. And anybody can praise the Lord when it's all going great. Who what's what good is that? Yeah, we all praise the Lord when it's going great. Sure, there's there's no faith in that.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, you you can already see it with your natural eyes.
SPEAKER_01:Who needs faith? Yeah, there it's in the thick of it. In when you when you feel despair, when you feel like, man, I'm in these bad habits. I don't know how to break them. Man, I'm in the sin just keeps on. Has a whole how do I break that? In in all of that gunk, you know, like you can, you the joy of the Lord, you strength, you keep confessing the word. God is always the way out. There is a way out. It's his word, it's God. The greater one is working in you. And so you're not defeated. You're not, so don't give up on yourself. Um, know that the greater one lives on the inside of you. Don't give up on yourself. You know, even when people have given up on you, you don't give up on yourself. You encourage yourself in the Lord, right? Oh, I don't have anybody to you don't need anybody to encourage yourself to encourage you. You encourage yourself in the Lord. God's given us a mouth, God's given you a mouth, and so you encourage yourself in the Lord. And so God is always the way out. Psalm 34, 19 says, Many are the affliction of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all. Not half of them, all of them. And so he's always more than enough. Um, and then I thought about in number, I won't read the entire thing, but Numbers 13, 17 through 33. It talks about it, it's talking about the spies sent into Canaan. Um, and they were just looking at, hey, how how what how we see is so important, right? And so Moses like, hey, go check out the land, uh, see what the land is like. Is it good or is it bad, right? Is some translations. And so is it are they camps or are they strongholds? Um, how are you gonna see it? Is it rich or is it poor? And so I wrote down here, rise above what you are actually seeing so you can see. You have to rise above what you're actually seeing so you can actually see.
SPEAKER_00:Your faith is your reality.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Simply put, your faith is your reality.
SPEAKER_01:Yes. So 10 out of the 12 did not see. Most of them didn't see the land. They didn't see. And so and so how we look at the circumstance, um, just it it's our perspective on uh the circumstance. You know, you can have 12 people look at the same circumstance and and most of them be like, no, we can't. No, there is no, there is no way out. God is the way. No, there is no. No, look at the look at those giants. No, look at that person, how bad they are. No, look, look, look at look at their sin. Look at look at that. How no. Don't look at that. Don't look at this. You need to look with your spiritual eyes. But so many of the time we look with our natural eyes and say, no, the the problem's too big. That no, we serve a bigger God. You got to say, hey, my God is bigger than the big, no, yeah, right. My God is bigger than those giants. That's right. And so there is a way out. Always remember that there is a way out. And so, so I can sit here and tell you that there's a way out, but you have to you have to see yourself in the way out, in the pathway that God wants you to be in.
SPEAKER_00:And confess it into being.
SPEAKER_01:And to confess it into being, yeah. Part Psalm 91 is part. I mean, like, it's part of what we say is so important. And so um, there is always a way out. Always remember that that there's a way out. We're not in despair, we're not in distress, but there's a way out. You talk to those giants, you you um uh don't be silent, but you use your mouth that God has given you.
unknown:Amen.
SPEAKER_00:So we leads us to number five. God honors back. And so I'll just read the whole verse again, verse 15. He shall call, uh He shall call upon me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. So, in other words, God's saying he will honor you, he will bring you honor. And so honor is a very, very powerful word. And um when you sow honor towards the Lord, he will honor always honor back. You reap what you sow, and so honor always, though, it always costs you something. And so it's it's steps above um where did I put that at? Respect. You know, we respect and honor are two different things, but you know, respect might be uh, you know, telling somebody happy birthday and telling them what you meant to them, but honoring them might be throwing a whole party and inviting all over people and showering them with gifts, right? Because so honor always costs you something, it's always steps above just respect. And so uh it's honor is valuable because it's a quality that will take you where you need to go. And without it, you're never gonna get there. It's if that ingredient is missing, no matter what you're called to do, whether it be five-fold ministry, whether it be a pastor, an evangelist, a teacher, uh, an apostle, uh a prophet, whatever it is, a mom or a dad or a business owner or whatever it is that you're trying to accomplish without honor, you're never gonna get there. And and you you must sow honor and be able to sow honor and reap honor. It's always giving and receiving. And I know I'm gonna tie it at the end of this back to the highest form of honor comes from God Himself, which is what this scripture is saying. But let's what is honor? Honor is to treat with great consideration, it means to respect greatly, to regard highly, to treat with difference uh difference and courtesy, to treat as valuable and precious, and it also means to esteem of the highest degree with great dignity. And I'm telling you, it is an an um ingredient that's missing, especially in our our young people and the next generation coming up. And so we teach on otter quite a bit in the in the youth department. And so um, because it's very important, like I like I said, it if it's if it's an ingredient that can't be missing, it can't be missing in their lives either. It it works the same whether you're 18 or 80. And so uh to treat as valuable and precious, uh well, hold on, treat with consideration. That means to make an effort to think of someone uh first, like you're prioritizing that person, right? To treat with consideration. So it's above and beyond respect. I said that earlier. To treat as valuable and precious means to honor that honor treats people as precious, as valuable just as Jesus treats them. The same blood of Jesus that makes you free makes them free. The same blood of Jesus that cleansed you is has cleansed them. So you're not going to treat them, you're gonna allow them to start over. Maybe they've wronged you, maybe they have said something against you, maybe they have uh done done you wrong. You're allowing them to start over just like God allows them to start over, just like the blood of Jesus allows them a fresh start. It's a new day. And so you're allowing that person to have a new day. And I'm telling you, when you show that kind of honor, man, it comes back to you, blessing upon wave upon wave, blessing upon blessing back to you. And then lastly, to esteem of the highest degree with great dignity, you know, God showed us that honor already when when he sent his son to die on the cross for us. And so uh He forgave us our our sins, He removed our shame, He took our guilt, you know, every single thing that you faced negatively, uh, there's not anything that you've ever done or will ever do that is greater than the blood of Jesus. I want to say that again. You have not gone too far. There's nothing that you could ever do, there's nothing that you could ever think that is greater than the blood of Jesus, and there's nothing that that's ever happened to you that's greater than anything that's ever happened to Jesus. He was beaten, he was rejected, he was abused, and he was downtrodden, he was uh and he took all of those things on the cross so that you don't have to be depressed, that you don't have to be down, you don't have to be defeated. And so all we have to do is identify with his victory, amen. And that shame and that failure drops. And so if he did it for us, he did it to those around us, and so he's this the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead has raised up every believer, and now we sit in that same seat of authority that we were talking about earlier, and the same honor that God showered on his own son, Jesus, that same honor is showered on you and me. And I just every time I think about that, I think about um November of 2009 with Brother T. L. Osborne stood on this very stage and he preached about the wonder of our witness, which was the closest thing to that line of that we are Jesus. You know, it freaks the religious people out, you know, because we really are his hands and we really are his feet, and God is moving through us. And Jesus has already done everything that he's gonna do, and so we better act like we're carrying that same victory around because that's that same spirit of faith, uh, 2 Corinthians says, that same spirit of faith is on the inside that Jesus had, that Peter had, that Paul had. Amen. And so, like uh the same glory of God. I I was recently in a Mark Henkins meeting. I went a couple weeks ago, uh, and and I caught the last meeting. I rode the motorcycle over to Louisiana, and he he and Pastor Mark was preaching on the glory again, only it was uh fresh revelation. Like he's uh he preached when he was here in September, he preached about the glory. You remember? And he defined all the different definitions of glory, but it was just on a different level. And so he was preaching on the glory, and uh, and I begin, you know, he was talking about how the glory of God knocked Paul off that horse or donkey, whatever it was. And and uh and I begin to see figures and political figures and and and people that have stood in our way, that have have stood in God's way, of Jesus coming back and delayed, man, they're they're falling off their horse. The glory of God is gonna hit them because we're carriers of that same glory, and God's getting their attention that it that it's not too late. Again, the same honor that God showered on his son has been showered on us, and we have that honor, we have that glory. We are Christ like, amen. And so when you accept your identity in Christ, then you're not gonna walk around like you're you are a sinner. No, you were a sinner, but you've been saved by his grace, God's ability, and it's greater than again it that that that hold, his hold on us is greater, amen. His grace is greater, and that's the highest form of honor. It comes from God Himself.
SPEAKER_01:That's so good. You know, when we um honor the word, it works for us. That's right. When we esteem the word of God, it works for us. We can't just forget about the word, we can't forget about um what all God has done for us. You know, it's so it was just so exciting and thrilling. I don't know what word to use, but I was so overjoyed getting to hear all of the testimonies on Sunday. Like, man, I know y'all were blessed by it. We were blessed by it with what God is doing, you know, and milestone year. I mean, that that goes into next year too. Um, but God had God's doing some great things. God, and it's it's up to us. We again, God gave us a mouth. We need to testify of his goodness, of his glory, what he's done in our lives. And so that's honoring him. When you testify, when you say, Hey, God healed me, God delivered me, uh, God set me free.
SPEAKER_00:That's overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the Word, their testimony of his, yes, their testimony.
SPEAKER_01:And so that's honoring him. That's honoring uh what God has done in your life. And so the word works when we when we honor God and honor his word, it works for us. Amen.
SPEAKER_00:Amen. Number six, God satisfies us with long life. And verse 16, with long life, he'll satisfy him. And so I was just uh, I think on Monday, yeah, Monday late afternoon, Selena and I made a trip over to uh visit uh Rich Peterson in the hospital, Rich and Patrice, and their son Mark was also there, and and he it was a blessing to get to talk to him. Um and just Mark is doing such a good job of taking care of his parents, and they're just going through so much. And uh and I was ministering, we were ministering to Brother Rich and you know I just asked him, you know, he had basically um he had almost died that morning, and Patrice began to play praise and worship music, and then life came back into him, and his color came back into him, and he as he began to worship God, and so I just I wanted to know. I said, I said, Hey, do you want to keep worshiping Jesus on this side of heaven, or do you want to cross over and worship him on that side of heaven? And he thought about it for just a moment and he said, Um, God has a plan and he's not finished yet. And so, man, we grabbed a hold of that spirit of faith, and that's a spirit of faith we can agree with, right? And so, man, I'm telling you the the the presence of God was in the room, and he's a worshiper, and he will live, he shall live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord. Amen. And so uh we're standing with the Petersons tonight, and we know that Rich is healed. He's not trying to get healed one day, but uh uh 1 Peter 2 24, that by his stripes, Jesus' stripes, uh Rich was healed. It's already happened. It's in the it's it's in the past tense, it's he's already been healed, and so he receives the manif the full manifestation of that healing. And we know that every cancer cell in his body is is dead in Jesus' name. And so with long life, he'll satisfy, God satisfies rich and shows him his salvation, and so uh rich ain't satisfied yet. Rich is rich, but he ain't satisfied yet. And so there's still life down here on earth to be lived. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_01:I wanted to read, I know we're only reading a couple of verses from Psalm 91, but as you were talking about uh rich, it just made me think of the other verses in Psalm 91. Uh, you shall not be afraid of the terror by night. You know, it tries to attach itself to you. No, we God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a power of love and a sound mind, nor the arrow that flies by day. There are arrows coming at us, but our shield of faith quenches those. Um, nor the pestilence, nor destruction. Yeah, a thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near me. It shall not come near me. Say that it shall not come near me. That's a good confession. Because, because you have made the Lord uh your refuge, even the most high your dwelling place. No, you don't, devil. No, you don't, devil. He's he's my refuge, he's my dwelling place. No evil shall befall me, no any. Plague, come near my dwelling. And so that's a confession. That's those verses there are not just uh to put on a poster and put it up on your wall, and you can do that, but they're to confess, those are so powerful. Like um, we we have authority, you know, in this world, you know, we live in a fallen world, and we have to what we have what we say, right? Like if if, you know, well, this is my world, what whatever maybe you may be, no, we're not here, whatever. Sarah, Sarah. No, you have what you say, and so you build your world by your words, and you have to make sure to check up on what you're saying and what you're uh are you agreeing with God's word or were you are you agreeing with your family members, right? Are you if they're contrary, if their words are contrary to God's words, I'm not listening to them. I'm listening to who whose word is final in your life, and so you have to make sure that um God is our deliverer, he delivers us from all kinds of things, he delivers us from tormenting thoughts, and there are arrows that fly at us, and we have to make sure um that there's no, even at nighttime, like you, you know, God's still working, but the enemy's still working too. And so you have to make sure to pray Psalm 91 over yourself and over your family and and over the those uh loved ones around you. We don't, we don't, we don't uh take a break from the word. We don't take a break uh from declaring the word of God, even when things are easy, oh it's all cool. It's my bills are paid, you know. Everybody said, like, no, we uh it's okay, we can chill back on. No, we have to make sure that we are confessing the word, that we are declaring the word, that that yes, he delivers us, but what has he delivered you from? You got to know what he's delivered you from and into, from darkness into light, from oppression to joy, from anxiety to peace of mind, from hatred and unforgiveness to love. And so he's delivered you from so many things that, and even if right now, if you don't see it, you're like in Canaan land, and you know, like, oh man, there are giants. But look apart, look past those giants and see what God, God really has some great things for your life. And so right now the enemy just wants you stuck and wants you looking at the circumstance, but God's like, hey, I've delivered you from all that. But look beyond the giants, look at look at the beautiful land that I have for you flowing with milk and honey, right?
SPEAKER_00:That's right.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:So that leads us to number seven. This is the last one, and it's worth saying. And uh it says, with long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. That word salvation, both in the Greek and the Hebrew, uh, implies the ideas of deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and soundness. Soundness of mind, but soundness of health, health in every part of your body. Amen. So it's not just going to heaven, it's not just about making heaven, but salvation is about living a victorious life right here in the nasty now and now, as as Pastor John Osteen used to call it. And down here in the nasty now and now. And so that's where we're at. But man, we can thrive. We don't just have to to barely get along, we can thrive. That that um we have life, the Zoe life of God is in our veins. And so uh I was talking to Jimmy Smith earlier today, and he was uh minister, he'd gotten a minister to um an ex-military member who was facing some PTSD. And so uh all kind of doctors had tried to you know confess that all over him that he has PTSD. And and brother uh brother Jimmy said, You know what PTSD is? And he's like, Sure, it's post-traumatic stress disorder. He said, Nope, it's Paul teaches salvation delivers. You're delivered. And so he began to to preach deliverance to him and remind him that he's been delivered, that he doesn't have to uh agree with that report. And I'm telling you, it lifted that man right out of that depression, right out of that trauma, that the the the never-ending video that's going round and around him. So uh we've been blessed uh so much to have so many ex-military members. I know like Marines, once a Marine, all always a Marine, but um, you know, army members, members of the military that have faced real life, real explosions, real things, and so many ex uh uh police officers and current police officers for that matter that that deal with such traumatic things that that you it's hard to put into words. And so um man, Paul teaches salvation delivers. And so that's what you know you're delivered out of that. You don't have to have that never-ending tape rolling around in your mind. And so God shows us his salvation every day. If you've had something traumatic happen to you in your childhood, you are delivered, or maybe something that happened when you were younger and that you were married, maybe you've been abused, maybe you've been spoken down to. God's delivered you out of, like Selena was saying so many times tonight, that out of, into, the out of and into, you know, we have we're into abundant life. You know, the thief comes to steal, to kill, and destroy. So you know if on the if it's on the killing, stealing, and destroying side, that that's Satan. But Jesus came that we might have life, that might is on our side, right? We receive the abundant life. We have it more abundant, abundantly, uh superior in quality. Amen. And so um that's the kind of life, the Zoe life that we have, amen. And so he shows us his salvation in every area. We live this victorious life, and so we don't have to be depressed. That's right. We don't have to walk around with every you know, feelings of that everything's missing or broken or destroyed, but we have Zoe life, the life of God.
SPEAKER_01:And we bring that everywhere we go. That's right. We bring that everywhere we go into, you know, you don't have to be a different person around, uh, you know, sometimes we try to like, and I know you I we may this is like what I'm trying to say is like you don't have you can bring joy and salvation everywhere you you go, it can ooze out of you, you know. Um, you can bring it to your workplace. You don't have to be a different person at your workplace, you can bring it to your family.
SPEAKER_00:You can bring the light.
SPEAKER_01:You can bring the light. Thank you, Jay, for bringing the light. All right, but you can bring the light everywhere you go, and so um you're a light. You're I always teach the teens, hey, everywhere into your school place, uh, you're bold, you're courageous, you the greater one lives on the inside of you, and so you bring that everywhere you go, and so um you have something to give to others. Just like God has delivered you from things, God wants to deliver others. God wants to deliver others from from darkness unto light. And so uh just like Jay say that there's salvation doesn't mean just being saved, yeah, but it means preservation, it means healing, it means soundness of mind. It brings, it means peace. So many people, and you know, a lot of the times Christmas is a it should be a wonderful, joyful, glorious time, but many of the times it's not. Many of the times people are depressed. Many of the times people don't have family and they don't have uh all of the wonderful things, they don't have a perspective of what God has done for them, how they He gave them Jesus, He gave them the very best. That is the best gift ever. No material thing will satisfy, no material thing will ever satisfy. I don't know if you've been to that place, but hey, don't love gifts and all, but there's there's this thing that will never sat, only Jesus satisfies. He is the best gift ever, he's the best gift ever. And so um maybe most of y'all watching tonight, maybe you never made the Lord, you know, uh your savior. It's it's a simple prayer. Romans says, if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, it's not that you will be saved. Yes, it's not this this long list of things that you have to get it together to come to God, you got to do this and you gotta do that. That's the that's the law, that's religion, right?
SPEAKER_00:That's the old come to him just as you are, just as you are. The mystery of that is you don't have to stay as you are, though. You get to come to him just as you are, and he receives you, but then he changed changes you and translates you out of that darkness into his marvelous light, and it really is marvelous.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, he he changes us from darkness into light. And so maybe you've never made the Lord your personal uh your savior. He he saves you, he saved us from so many things, and so it's just a simple prayer: Lord, come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior. I turn away from the worlds, the flesh, and the devil, and I turn to you. Take hold of my mind, Lord. Take hold of my heart, come into my heart, save me, deliver me, heal me, change me from the inside out. In Jesus' name, amen. It's a simple prayer, it's not hard. You know what the it's just a it's it's if you mean it. That's the thing. It's a heart to heart. You don't even have to come to up to the altar. It's good to get in a Bible-based church, it's good to get in a church that teaches you the word. It's I'm thankful uh that I grew up in a church. I'm thankful that my mama brought me to church. I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for praying mamas, praying grandmas. Thank you to all the mamas, the daddies, the grandmas, the the eunises, the what Timothy, the Loises and the Eunices, and that brought your kids and grandkids to church. Keep doing that, keep contending for this generation. And so, because uh they need it. They need it, especially now in 2025, where stuff is just uh it's it's bad out there, but the the light exposes just like that little light that Jay has here, right? A lot of times we think, oh, my light's not that, but that little light, don't blind people, it puts off a whole bunch of light, a whole bunch of wattage, whatever.
SPEAKER_00:Message brought to you by O Light.$15 on Amazon makes a great stocking stuffer.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, very funny. You want me to buy you some more lights?
SPEAKER_00:Yes, exactly. One is enough.
SPEAKER_01:But seriously, for uh Father's Day. That would be all right, all right. What do we get from Mother's Day?
SPEAKER_00:I don't know.
SPEAKER_01:Uh-huh. Some flowers. Flowers are good too. But um, anyway, do you want to add anything else? So we just wanted to encourage you with Psalm 91. God is our deliverer, never just the bottom line. He does he has delivered you from so much. Um, there is always a way out. That's right. Just remember, there is always a way out, and God is the way out. Go to his word, cling to his word, stay close to him.
SPEAKER_00:He's the way made.
SPEAKER_01:Stay close to him because when you stay close to him, you don't care about people's opinions, you don't care about man's opinions, you don't care about the status quo, you don't care about uh, oh, I'm this age, so I should be this far along, or oh, I'm that. So, and people say that about no, you don't care about any of that. You just stay close to God, do his word, and and he'll he'll deliver you, he'll he'll set you up on high, he'll promote you. That's right. And so we just speak Psalm 91 over all of y'all, the one that y'all are here and the ones watching. We just speak Psalm 91 over us.
SPEAKER_00:I would just say that he is the way maker, and he has the way of escape. You know, I think it's the amplified Bible that has that scripture that says that he's the way, he has the way of escape. So it's not a way, it's not any way, like any mini miny mo. There's the way. And so you need to tap into his way of escape out of that mess, and he'll translate you out of that. And so, again, the Holy Spirit is the deliverer, you know, and he brings us out of and into that's right.
