Go ahead and go before the Lord and grab our Bibles and make this confession Say, Heavenly Father, I'm so grateful for your word, I'm a man of your word, I'm a man of faith. I'm encouraged tonight by your word and I lean my whole, entire human personality back into you tonight. I'm grateful for this broadcast where I get to grow in you and growing is changing and changing is growing, and I'm committed to both, In Jesus name, amen. Well, if you'll turn with me to the book of Matthew, chapter four and I just wanted to start tonight's message and so the power of God's word, and so you know, again, we were just, I was just this morning going back with her, just thinking about the faithfulness of God, and you know, I do that from time to time I think we all do, obviously and just kind of was listing off some of the things that I was grateful that God has done. And so you know, I don't know what you're facing tonight, but whatever it is, stay grateful, stay thankful, have a thankful heart that's turned towards Him, and you have all of heaven backing you up when you remain on God's side. So get on God's side and remain there. Amen, and abide there. We're going to be talking about that a little bit later.
Speaker 1:So Matthew 4, 1, we have Jesus, it says. Then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil and when he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, afterward he was hungry. Now, when the tempter came to him, he said if you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread. But it says in verse four Jesus answered him, said it is written. And so right away Jesus answered the devil, the tempter, with the rhema word of God. You know the whole entire Bible itself. God's word is logos. But the second that you find where it is written and you proclaim it out of your mouth, it becomes rhema and that rhema word can turn back depression and turn back loneliness and turn back fear and anxiety and depression. I said depression already, but I'm telling you find where it is written. Jesus found where it was written and he, because he had it on the inside right. And he said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. In other words, we were to live by the bread of life, and the bread meaning the word, God's word, Amen.
Speaker 1:And then the devil tried again. He took him up into the holy city, verse five set him on a pinnacle and said to him if you are the son of God, throw yourself down. And then the devil started. You know, the devil knows the word. And so the devil starts quoting the word back to Jesus.
Speaker 1:And the devil knew where it was written. But it wasn't Ramah right. And he said, and the one he quoted he shall give his angels charge over you, and in their hands they shall bear you up Lest you dash your foot against the stone. And Jesus said to him it is written again, or also written, that you shall not tempt the Lord, your God. And so again, Jesus was right there to answer with a rhema word. And again the devil took him up on the exceeding high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Jesus all these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me. But Jesus said unto the devil away with you, Satan. For it is written you shall worship the Lord, your God, and in him only you shall serve. And then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Jesus. So several things stick out to me from that. But the biggest is at the end, right.
Speaker 1:So Jesus always knew where it was written. He always had a rhema word ready to fire off at the, at the tempter, at the enemy and at the devil, Um. But the second that Jesus said, get scat. You know my mom, you know, with cats that were around the house, you know the outside of the house or whatever, she didn't like any cats around and so she would get out there and and stomp her feet and and and they would scat. And so the second that Jesus did that the devil left, right. And so Jesus could have said that the first time, but he didn't.
Speaker 1:And so I just encourage you tonight, when you're standing against the temp, the tempter, tell him you know, uh, James four, seven, real quick, let's you know, resist the devil and he shall flee. So when you resist him, he's you know. It says James 4, 7 in the New King James Version. It says, therefore, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. In other words, it's a certainty. So we do the resisting and the power of God's word.
Speaker 1:God comes and backs up his word, and God's word is just as powerful coming out of your mouth as it is coming out of his mouth. It was spoken so that it could be. You know, God's word was spoken so it could be written and it was written so it could be spoken. And God's word is just as powerful coming out of your mouth as it is coming out of God's mouth, and God is right there. When you speak God's word, God comes right then and he backs up his own word, Amen. And so he is faithful to his word. He has to complete what God's already said Amen. So.
Speaker 1:But it takes humility. Humility means you know, to submit to God First. We have to submit to God First. We have to submit to God. We're not submitting to our own ways, we're not submitting to our own thoughts, we're not submitting to our own actions, but we're submitting all of our ways and all of our thoughts to the power of God's word. Amen and so.
Speaker 1:But kind of back to Matthew for a second. You know the moment that Jesus told the devil to get, he was quick to flee. And so if you'll tell the devil to get out, you know, just thump him right off of your shoulder, Stop listening to him, Stop being deceived, Stop being lied to, and turn around and turn your heart towards God. Man, the devil leaves every time and then ministering angels can come to you and minister to you. The spirit of the Lord can come, minister to you, spirit to spirit, and um, and resuscitate you and encourage you. The word of God is always encouraging, Amen. So, um, let's go ahead and just keep flipping in the Bible to over to John, chapter 15. And you know, I've got four things tonight of of demonstrating the power of God's word, demonstrating the power of God's word, Four things that demonstrate the power of God's word. And James 15, I'm sorry, John 15. Did I say James? I meant John? John 15, verse seven.
Speaker 1:It says if you abide in me, if you abide in me, if you abide in me. So where's the if? Is the if on God's side? No, right away we notice that the if is on our side. So the if is never on God's side. The if is always on our side, and so if we do something, then God does, you know, then God performs, then something good happens, Then God comes through on our behalf. But we have to. It starts by humbling ourselves and submitting to God, Right, and in this and in this verse is talking about, you know Selena and the youth. A couple of years ago she had a whole if then series right and she found all the if then scriptures and put them all together and taught them different ways all through the, the, the theme, and it was really powerful. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you. And so we know that the if is on our side.
Speaker 1:That word abide, though, it has really several different meanings and it comes from different. It means to remain, it means not to depart or to leave, but it also means to be kept. God keeps you if you choose to abide in him, and your words and his words rather need to abide in us, and so that means that we need to know his words. And so I want to keep listing out, though, the meaning of the word abide in the Greek, or in reference to condition. It means to remain as one and not to become another or to become different. I thought that was the most powerful thing. I was studying this today. I had no idea that that was one of the meanings of the word abide, and I immediately the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 1:Like you know, the devil is trying his best to change you, to depress you, to pull you away, to bring loneliness and depression and fear and anxiety, and to pull you away out of the body of Christ, out of leaning on each other, out of your friendships. He's trying to get you alone. He's trying to destroy your marriage. He's trying to destroy your family. He's trying to kill, steal and destroy from you every day. But if you'll abide, it keeps you right where you need to be, but it allows you to not become a different person. It allows you not to become another whole being. You've already become a new creature in Christ being. You've already become a new creature in Christ and you remain that way. When you abide, Amen. There's nothing the devil can do to strip you or to, or to take you away, uh, from from God's right hand and your place of authority.
Speaker 1:You know right now, pastor's teaching on the authority of the believer, and it's so powerful. If I was you, I would pay attention. This Sunday it's going to be part two, and so we need to know what our authority is given to us in God's word, and that's stretching out from the power of God's word, Amen. And so God's word needs to abide in us. And so for it to abide in us, we need to know it. And it doesn't necessarily mean you know, my dad did a great job of quoting. Last Sunday he went through Ephesians one prayer and he didn't stop and he got into all the way into Ephesians two and he just kept going. And that's great. You know, the more you become familiar with God's word, you'll be able to quote it. That's going to be both a supernatural and a natural thing, but sometimes you just need to be familiar with where it is written. Where are you going to go to find it? You know, are you always just going to have to Google that scripture? No, you're you're. The more you read God's word, the more familiar, familiar you are with it.
Speaker 1:I, I had a um, I remember, when I was in the eighth grade um, I was pretty shy and I was on the eighth grade a team, football team, and so that was a really big deal to me, and and and the coach was leaving. One day my mom was picking me up and he saw the coach saw the Lakewood church bumper sticker on the back of our car, and so the next day he wanted to make it a big deal, but he didn't do it with just me. He did it in kind of way Everybody's on a knee and he brought it up in front of the entire team and he was trying to make himself sound spiritual. And I can't remember the eighth grade coach coach's name. I remembered all the other coaches, but but I just can't remember his name but anyways. And so then he began to talk about the rapture and I was able to tell no, that's second Thessalonians, chapter two. I knew, I, you know, and I knew what that was. So I was familiar enough with the word to to talk about what's going to happen during the rapture. And so, um, you know it's.
Speaker 1:It's really important to know, to be familiar with God's word, so that when you get in situations where you need to recall God's word, boom, you have it, you know. And so there's other more serious things when maybe you're with coworkers or something and one of them cries out, is really going through something, and boom, you can share God's word. Right then, and you can say you know, well, God's word tells us what to think on in Philippians, chapter four. So you know, we don't have to think on depressing and nasty, perverted or whatever things we can think on, you know, think the best, and so on and so forth. So when we know where it is written, that's where the blessing of God is Amen. That's where the blessing of God is Amen, it, it, it, uh.
Speaker 1:And another thing I want you to see here that, uh, when you, when those words abide in you, then when you ask what you desire, your desires are going to match his desires, because his word is on the inside of you and and that thing that you desire, it shall be done. But the literal meaning of that that you desire, it shall be done. But the literal meaning of that, it means to leap into being and become a fact. So, right then, when you ask, it leaps into being and it becomes a fact. Why? Because you're abiding in him and his words are abiding in you, Amen.
Speaker 1:And then my whole point is, and then my whole point is number one obedience to God's word brings God's glory. And you say, Jay, where's that at? Well, we hadn't read it yet. It's right here, in verse eight. So John 15, eight says by this my father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you will be my disciples. So he says by this what is this? This is abiding in him and his words, abiding in you and then by you asking and him providing that thing through the abiding, and then you asking and then him providing. That whole process is what brings him glory, and that whole process is what allows you to be a witness to others. It allows you to be a witness to God's faithfulness, it allows you to be a witness to God's goodness and it allows you to be a witness to God's glory. And then, boom, he is glorified, Amen. And he's glorified by being able to bless you with blessing upon blessing, so much that you can't even contain it, Amen. And so that leads us to number two, which is obedience, In other words, standing on God's word, walking in the power of God's word opens up blessing, and so we get that out of Luke 11.
Speaker 1:There's one place let's get the context of this 11 27 it happened, as he spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to him blessed is the womb that bore you and the breast that nursed you. In other words, let's make it all about Mary. And Jesus turned around and told her hey, even greater than that, greater than Mary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. So we're blessed. The blessing of the Lord is upon us. When we hear God's, not only do we hear it, but we also keep it. In other words, we do it, we walk in it and we're not going to go against it. Our behavior, our decisions, our thoughts, everything that we're about, do not go against God's word. It doesn't go against God's will, it doesn't go against what God's trying to do through us, and it doesn't stop what God's trying to move through us. Amen.
Speaker 1:And so all we have to do is be doers of the word and keep his commandments Right. And so you know, the enemy is always trying to keep you down, to kill, steal and destroy, Like I said earlier. But we're, you know, there's always a payday. There's always always a payday when you obey God, when you stand on his word, when you stand on his promises, when you refuse to quit, when you refuse to give up. I think there's people watching tonight that you've given up. You've passed that point and you've given up.
Speaker 1:And I'm telling you it's not too late to turn around. If you'll turn your heart towards God right now, he is rich in mercy and he's able to pull you out of that whole situation If you'll just allow the miraculous, wonder working power of his word to come alive in you and to blow you away. Like you put God in a box. You said no. You've already said it can't be done. But God, through God, all things are possible. And so I just encourage you tonight to grab a hold of his word, Find where it is written, Find that you know it could be that scripture right there. With God, all things are possible. You grab a hold of that. You know, devil, do you hear me? With God, all things are possible.
Speaker 1:And whatever I'm telling you, it is not too late. You haven't gone too far. The blood of Jesus is able to rescue you and wash you and cleanse you and perfect the things, every single thing that concerns you. God's word, he's able to perfect it, Amen. And so you haven't gone too far. So stick to his word. Meditate on God's word. That means to mutter, that means to. To chew on God's word, Um, like a cow would regurgitate. You know the grass that they're chewing on. That's what we need to do. We need to chew on God's word. You know it takes time, and in this society that we live in, nobody wants to take the time right. And so that's why every, almost every service, we talk about how, the value of spending time in God's word and become becoming familiar with it, but having it come out of of you in every situation. You're, you're. You know, this is the year of milestones, and so you're not, you're not marveling over what the devil's doing. We're marveling over all the wonderful things God's doing. Amen, Because God is really moving right now.
Speaker 1:You see it in every corner of society, you, you even see it on the news now, right, Some of the things that President Trump is doing are opening things up and exposing corruption. Corruption is being exposed, the devil's schemes are being exposed, and that's not doge, that's the light of God's word shining down from heaven itself, illuminating the corruption, illuminating the greed, and we're getting rid of it, Amen. And so we're standing as a country against fraud, against corruption, and God is rescuing this country out of that, Amen. So obedience on God's word always brings blessings. It always brings a payday. Amen, Amen. And so, um, and then number three God's word always encourages, and so, if you'll turn with me, real quick to Colossians, chapter three, quick to Colossians, chapter three.
Speaker 1:I'm already encouraged by the word of God tonight, Starting in verse 16,. Colossians 3, 16, let or allow the word of Christ to dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord Verse 17, and whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him. In other words, we're going to do everything that we do has to be done, whether we do it in word or in deed, whether we talk about it or we do. So. We're doing, but we're not just talking about it. We're doing it out of God's word and we're, you know, no matter what we're doing, we're doing it in the name of the Lord Jesus through Thanksgiving. But back to verse 16,. All of that, when we allow God's word to dwell in us, we're going to be encouraging one another and in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing. That means to to encourage one another in Psalms and hymns Well, I can't sing. No, you're able through the spirit. It's encouraging one another in Psalms and in hymns and in spiritual songs.
Speaker 1:Singing there's worship, there's a worshipful attitude, there's a worshipful heart that comes out when you know that it's not you, but it's him. And when you're worshiping God, you're bringing honor to the Lord, and that honor produces blessing, it produces encouragement, and all of a sudden, the person that you're worshiping God with is encouraged. And maybe they walked in depressed, Maybe they walked in completely and totally, unable to figure out which way was up. And now the light of God's word, his glory, his countenance has shined down upon them and they can see light and boom. There there's their path that they're walking in. Thy word. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, so it's lighting up, illuminating where that they should, they should step next, and it all comes through encouragement, Amen.
Speaker 1:And so, um, you know, when we're, when we're encouraging one another, we're all you're doing is confessing God's word, You're agreeing. You know Hebrews 10, 23, I think it is that you know, hold fast to your confession or your profession of faith. We're all men and women of faith and we're acting that faith out on a daily basis. And when you're able to encourage one another in the word, you're confessing the word and you're agreeing with God's word. And God makes himself responsible for the results. You know we're not responsible for the results, God is. And so if, if, you'll just stay on your side, it's, it's our job to believe and it's God's job to perform.
Speaker 1:And anytime you get that out of whack, things mess up real quick. So just stay on your job description as being a believer, but you know it's not just believing in our heart, it's. But you know it's not just believing in our heart, it's confessing it with our mouth, right? So Romans 10, nine and 10,. If we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth, we are saved. And so that's how, that's what the word of faith, that's where we get the word of faith. It's actually in the Bible, in Romans 10, nine and 10. And that's what we're preaching here tonight, the word of faith agreeing with our confession. Amen and so, um, but we have to allow the word of Christ to dwell in us richly, not just, not poorly, not just a little bit, but it's overflowing in us. We've spent so much time in God's word that it's coming out of every pore of our body. Amen.
Speaker 1:And so, moving on here, number four obedience to God's word saves us from costly mistakes. You know, in Psalm 119, I just quoted a verse out of 119 about thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light into my path. But verse nine and 10, nine through 11, rather, in Psalm 119 says how can a young man cleanse his way? And then it tells him by taking heed, according to your word, In other words, according to your word, In other words, uh, obeying the word of the Lord, Amen. And then taking heed, taking attention, pulling your attention, pulling your attitude, pulling your thoughts, pulling your um your actions according to the word.
Speaker 1:And then verse 10 with my whole heart I have sought you. Oh, let me not wander from your commandments. He's not allowing us to wander away, but when we abide in him and his words abide in us, we're abiding, we're being kept by him right, we're being kept by God and through his word right, kept by, uh, by God and by and through his word Right. And then verse 11, your word. I have hidden in my, in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Notice the word might. Is the might on God's side? No, it's. It's once again, it's on our side that I might not sin against you.
Speaker 1:So again, when you store up, kind of going back to Jesus being tempted in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, answering the devil, answering the tempter with the word of God, finding out where it is written Amen. And so that's what we're doing. We're hiding the rhema word of God in our hearts that we might not sin against him. And so that means that when temptation comes, when tests come, when trials come, we know and we stand firm that God has already produced or made the way of escape. And it's the way. It's not a way, it's the way. And so it's not any many, many mo, any of these 10 things, just pick one. No, it's, it's a very specific way that he's, that he's produced or provided.
Speaker 1:And boom, we're walking through that. We're running through that door, Boom, it's a way of escape. And boom, we're walking through that. We're running through that door. Boom, it's a way of escape out of that temptation, out of that sin, out of that trial, out of those circumstances, out of debt, out of bondage, chains being broken, limitations being released, and we're breaking through to the other side, Amen. And so I just encourage you when we resist the devil, you're resisting the devil with your voice.
Speaker 1:You know, I love my parents. I'm blessed to have strong parents and I'm blessed to have a strong mom who's always praying for me. But I'm not saved by her prayer. I'm saved by my prayer, my words. You know when, when, when Jesus was asleep at the bottom of the boat on that leather cushion. I like to amplify that. It says that leather cushion, you know, in the middle of that storm, and they wake Jesus up and he's like, oh, you have little faith. And he gets up there and he says peace, be still. The whole point of that message is that any one of them had the same authority. If they would have said peace, be still, the winds and the waves would have obeyed them as well, and so they'll obey you.
Speaker 1:When you put God's word in your mouth, it's just as powerful as God's word coming out of his mouth. So put his mouth, put his confession in your mouth. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. I'm more than a conqueror, I'm an overcomer. I am the head and not the tail. I'm above only and not beneath. I am a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people. I show forth the praises of him that called me out of darkness into his marvelous light. You know, on and on and on.
Speaker 1:I wrote some down here. I will not meditate on the lies of the enemy. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind and my thoughts. I have peace that passes all understanding, that guards my heart and my mind. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. That's a great mind. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. That's a great one. I am the righteousness of God. You know the devil's constantly trying to talk you out of your righteousness and you don't have to allow them. When you confess God's word, when you find out where it is written, Amen. Well, thank you for watching. Thank you for watching. Thank you for all these good comments. Um, obedience opens up. God's blessing, miss sylvia navarro. So she was. She was listening tonight. Praise the lord. Well, selena's gonna come.
