The Multiply Effect of Generosity

Mark Hankins

What if your financial future could be transformed through the simple act of giving? Join us as we uncover the divine wisdom nestled within Proverbs 11:24-25, promising insight into how generosity is designed not to deplete but to multiply our resources.

Speaker 1:

proverbs 11, 24 and 25. Um book of proverbs you know is wonderful. Uh, the wisdom of god. All you have to do is ask for that wisdom. And proverbs 11, 24. A lot of wisdom in there, and this part is just about your finances.

Speaker 1:

Proverbs 11, 24. So the first time I read this in the king james version I was a little bit, uh, confused. I'm like there is a scatterer and yet increases. There is that withholdeth more than his meat and it tends to poverty. All right, see that again there is a scatters. So when he says there is it scatters, you're reading the king james. But other translation says it this way one gives away and gets richer. Another one keeps what he should give and is poorer. All right, message. Bible says the world of the generous gets larger and larger and the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. Amen. So here he says there's a scatters and yet increases. In other words, he says you're giving or you're generous and yet you still increase. So that's when the Lord first said to me. He said I did not design giving for you to decrease. All right, let's try that one more time, because a lot of times people, when you talk about giving, they're like oh you know, they tighten up because they're always thinking subtraction, but God's thinking multiplication. He'll multiply your seeds. So there is a scatters, and yet increases. One gives and still gets more Richer.

Speaker 1:

Other translators say increases. Another one withholds more than is appropriate, or he holds on to something that he actually should give, but he's afraid. Or he's a stingy, come on, or he's a tight one, or he's got deep pockets and short arms. Y'all know what deep pockets and short arms are. You got them alligator arms. When you got you, somebody said well, my, my money's all tied up. I said, well, a good funeral will lose every bit of it. When it comes time to give you, better, lose some money, amen. Jesus said loose that coat and bring him to me. He said that I need him, amen.

Speaker 1:

And so the kingdom of god, or the gospel, really needs people that are givers, are partners, are people that are investors into the gospel. It's the best investment, it's an eternal investment and it can never decrease or go down. It's eternal, praise the lord. And so here he says there's a scatters, and yet does what Increases. So I like to say it this way you can give more than you've ever given and still have more than you've ever had. That's good. That's good. How many believe you can give away more than you've ever given and still have more than you've ever had? Amen. You can look at it over the years, because this is not a three-day test. Come on, this is a lifetime test. Giving more than I've ever given and yet finding out over the years, I just keep increasing and increasing and increasing. Amen.

Speaker 1:

I've never met a lifetime tither or giver that wish they hadn't done it. I never met one. Well, because god is faithful, amen. And god's the biggest giver and he hangs out with givers. His best friends are givers and if you're a generous giver, your best friends are not takers, because you realize they just come around and see what they're going to get from you. Your best friends are other people that ain't trying to get something from you, but they are also givers. Are y'all still here?

Speaker 1:

I always tell people always be a giver to givers, because givers are the ones that have the favor of God in their life. If you keep giving to just a taker, then that's all they want is to take more and more and more. Most of the time get pretty unthankful. Thank you for your enthusiasm. I've got kids and grandkids. Anyway, I was born at night, but not last night, so understanding generosity and being a giver is not just something at church, it affects your whole life. Praise the Lord Everywhere you go. It's easier to witness to people when you're generous. Amen.

Speaker 1:

Because if I give somebody a super, super, duper tip, it's easy for me to say do you know Jesus as your Lord? Say well, I just gave him a $100 tip and my bill was only 20 bucks and they're like are you serious? I said serious, do you know Jesus as your Lord? Well, they listened to. So this is what we call the law of increase, amen, our law of prosperity. In other words, there is a scattered as an increases there is that holds on too tight and it tends to poverty. So if you understood that law, you would take your giving very serious because you're not wanting to end up in lack. All right, let's say it this way Look at this scripture this way, because I had to look at it for a while.

Speaker 1:

I studied the scripture's own finances on the way God thinks about finances, because he seems to be doing pretty well. So I thought how does God think about money and about finances? So I'm studying it. So here's what I came up with how does God think about money and about finances? You know, so I'm studying it. So here's what I came up with.

Speaker 1:

Poverty or lack does not come from money you don't have. It comes from money you do have. You shouldn't have. All right, well, let's try this out a little bit. In other words, you held on too tight and weren't willing to tithe or give, come on or sow, and you're holding on to your money because you're afraid you're going to have lack. And he said the way you held on to it actually caused you to have lack. All right, well, I'm not talking to you no more if you don't want to listen. So this is the way God thinks about it. In other words, there's enough wealth in the earth for everybody living to have a multimillion. There's no shortage of money in the earth. There's plenty of wealth in the earth. But the wealth of the earth responds to the generous, or let's say generous.

Speaker 1:

I love Ephesians 6, 8. Y'all know Ephesians 6, 8? Write this down real quickly. Y'all know Ephesians 6, 8? Y'all don't know Ephesians 6, 8? What is this? A Bible study? Is this like the Rotary Club? Where am I Anyway? So Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 8,.

Speaker 1:

What does it say? Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he is bound or free. Now, this is, this is guaranteed by God. So he says, while you and I are being a blessing to others, whatsoever good thing any person does, the same will he receive from the Lord. Now, you're not going to necessarily receive it from where you gave it, because a lot of times you can bless people and they don't ever do nothing back for you and sometimes they can't do nothing back for you. So you have to expect that to come to you from the Lord and apparently God guarantees while you're blessing others. He said I guarantee you that same thing is gonna happen to you. Boy, I'll tell you once. I found that out I think it's Mike Murch, old friend, ours and he said what you make happen for others, god will make happen for you.

Speaker 1:

All right then, if you look at Luke, chapter 16, jesus said if you're gonna be a leader in, or if you're gonna serve the Lord Luke 16 he said you have to be faithful in three areas. Number one be faithful in little things, be faithful in that which is another man's and be faithful when it comes to money. He said if you'll be faithful when it comes to money, god will entrust you with true riches. So money is really not true riches. You can't buy salvation. You gave by eternal life. Y'all still here, so, but he said, if you'll be faithful when it comes to money, god said I'll do things for you that money can't do for you. Oh Well, praise the Lord.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to keep talking about this, but I wanted to understand how it works, because the word tells you how how stuff works. The word tells you how how stuff works, how the kingdom of God works, how God thinks and how he works. And so, while you're being a blessing to others, they may never return the favor, so to speak. But God said I'll return it to you, I'll bring it back to you so you don't ever have to get mad at nobody. You, so I have, you didn't have me. Well, I didn't help them, so they'd help me. I helped them because I wanted to help them and I know God's going to help me. In other words, god's going to arrange my harvest. Amen. If they can't do it, he'll arrange it.

Speaker 1:

Come on, I've had people show up in my life, very, very successful, prosperous people that showed up in my life that said something like this, said this to me he said most people cannot afford to be your harvest, but I can, did. You know? God can arrange people to show up in your life that'll say you've been tithing, you've been sowing, you've been given, come on and I'm going to arrange your harvest and he'll get you in the right place at the right time and the blessing of the Lord will hit you and God can use whoever he chooses. And the same measure. The same Measure. That's right again. And the same measure.

Speaker 1:

Somebody said the hole you give through is the hole you receive through. So if you got a little tiny hole, it's gonna come back a little tiny, oh. But if you knock a big old hole, boom, it's going to come back a little tiny hole. But if you knock a big old hole, boom, that's how it's going to come back. Amen. So sometimes when I give and I said I'm fixing to knock a hole Because what I'm giving through, that's how it's going to come back to me. The same measure Amen. Press down, shake it together and run it over. Praise the Lord. Amen. Well, is that enough? Press down, shake it together and run it over. Praise the Lord, amen. Well, is that enough for you tonight? All right. So he says there's a scatter. So you take your giving serious, because he said it'll produce increase in your life. I think it was.

Speaker 1:

Who was it that said this? Anne Frank, or somebody like that, said nobody ever became poor by giving. Y'all still here. All right, now you read Proverbs 11, 24?. Now go to verse 25, just for the sake of continuing the thought. You got it. Proverbs 11, 24?. Then you go to verse 25. That it scatters, yet increases. Hold more than is meat. Look at somebody and say don't be a tightwad.

Speaker 1:

Then he says in verse 25, the liberal soul. Now we change that for political reasons. I won't get into politics right now, but Actually the word here we're going to use is the word generous. The generous soul shall be made fat or abundantly provided for, and he that waters others shall be watered himself. Praise the Lord, amen.

Speaker 1:

Y'all ready to give? Praise the Lord. Got any givers in here? Got anybody that believes you're going to have some increase in 2025? You don't even have to know where it's going to come or how it's going to come. All you do is act on the word and let God arrange how it's coming. Amen, praise the Lord.

Speaker 1:

And so this is the only offering we're going to receive tonight. So if you're giving to the church, you can do that. If you want to give to mhm, you can do that on your envelope. Praise the lord. I think you can give by different, uh like stuff like that, right, like a cash app. Uh, church, um, praise the lord. I don't want to read all that, so just read it. Amen. Let's pray. Sorry, I have to entertain myself sometimes. Let's pray. Father. God, thank you for your word. We act on your word. We believe your word. We expect those kind of results. Thank you for supernatural increase. Jobs are blessed, families are blessed. Jobs are blessed, families are blessed, churches are blessed. We expect to increase because we give generously, we sow generously and we reap generously. So thank you, lord, that the money will come and the blessing of the Lord upon our jobs and businesses and homes and families and church and ministry. We expect supernatural increase in 2025. In Jesus name, and everybody said amen.
