The Faith Road
What if your words could shape your reality? Join us for a faith-transformation journey on "The Faith Road," where we unveil the power of the Word of Faith and its profound impact on our lives. We begin drawing inspiration from Romans 10:8-10 and the teachings of Paul. With insights from Smith Wigglesworth, we explore how faith confession and heartfelt belief lay the foundation for divine blessings, much like roads and ports facilitate transportation and delivery.
Let's reach down and pick up our Bibles. I want to get into the Word with you and after that we'll receive communion together and seal up what we are talking about today. Let's wave our Bibles around live stream audience. You do it with us. Let's say this together say Heavenly Father, we're so glad to be here today. Thank God for the anointing, thank God for the Holy Ghost and thank God for the Word. It's the Word and the Spirit working together in my life that makes all the difference, and I thank you for what I've received so far, what I'm going to get now. In Jesus' name, amen, amen.
Speaker 1:Let's turn in our Bibles to Romans, chapter 10. These are very familiar scriptures Romans 10, verse 8. Romans 10, verse 8. And Paul is writing to the Corinthian church, a very carnal church, by the way. They had sin in the church, they had difficulties in the church, and churches have all kinds of things happen.
Speaker 1:It's not a museum of perfect people, it's a hospital. In many cases it's a place where people get healed up, like this morning, verse 8,. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. How many of you know? He's not talking about your blood pump. He's talking about your spirit, your heart. The heart of anything is the center, the heart of a tree, the heart of the matter. You know the heart, it's the center. So he's talking about you, your spirit. The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. That is the word of faith which we preach, the word of faith which we preach, the word of faith which we preach. Jesus preached the word of faith. Paul preached the word of faith.
Speaker 1:When I discovered the word of faith, when I got saved, I didn't turn away from it. I didn't quit believing it. I continued all these years, 40 plus 43 years, 44 years I've continued in the word of faith. I'm not leaving for some other take on the word. This is the original issue right here. What I'm going to preach today is the original issue and a lot of people just to try to be different. You know I don't care about being different. I preach the same thing over and over because we need to hear it over and over the word of faith which we preach.
Speaker 1:I treasure the word of faith, revelation. I treasure it. I'd be in heaven already if it weren't for the word of faith. That, if you shall. And what is the word of faith? Verse 9, that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and at the same time shall believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. That word salvation is the Greek word sozo, and it means not only going to heaven, but it means health, prosperity, safety, preservation, everything we have to have need of. The word of faith addresses that, and so the message today is entitled the Faith Road, and I gather it from a Smith Wigglesworth quote that I'm going to give you.
Speaker 1:Smith Wigglesworth was known as the apostle of faith. He had, I don't know, 23 raised from the dead. That's quite a few dead people that became alive because of his ministry. I mean, that kind of blows your mind. But he said this one time confession builds the road over which faith carries its mighty cargo. Confession builds the road over which faith carries its mighty cargo. Confession builds the road over which faith carries its mighty cargo. Isn't that good.
Speaker 1:Now here's a man that died when I was born. He died in 1947. I know, it makes me really sound really old, I guess guess, because in years I guess I am, but anyway. So he lived in an era where he saw the development of modern infrastructure. When he was around in the turn of the century, there weren't any highways you didn't have. In fact you know it was Ike Eisenhower that commissioned the interstate highway system. It was was after the war. Really, even in the 30s and 20s, I mean, you didn't have that many highways. You had a two-lane highway, route 66, a two-lane highway. It sure wasn't a freeway, and so you know you didn't have the infrastructure to carry. And he lived long enough to see that infrastructure built.
Speaker 1:He saw, you know, back at the turn of the century. I mean, automobiles were just becoming available. They were only for rich people. Nobody could buy one except rich people until Henry Ford developed the Model T and had this amazing transformation of the assembly line and made Fords so cheap that anybody could, and in turn, tractors. But back then, you know, a road, what could a car do on an old pig trail? I mean, they had trails, they didn't have roads, they had dirt roads that washed out. They didn't have bar ditches on either side to drain the water out of them. So if you're going in your car. It's got little bicycle tires on there. It's got little springs boing, boing, boing. I mean your car would break down, it wouldn't go anywhere. So the advent of the automobile caused roads to be built, and this country is what it is because we have a very advanced and yet now aging infrastructure.
Speaker 1:You could say the same things about ports. I mean, what good is a cargo ship without a port to unload it? What good is an airport when they're bringing FedEx packages in and you don't have any way to process what's on the FedEx plan or the UPS? Are y'all with me? Now? I'm talking about your faith. Do you need something? Is there some need of supply? Listen, your faith can build the road over which faith can bring that supply to your doorstep. Might not be overnight delivery, but it'll come.
Speaker 1:So what kind of road have you built with your concession? Is it wide and straight and strong and able to hold the weight of the cargo and smooth, or is it full of potholes, washouts and quicksand? I mean, I've driven, you know, back in my younger days we were big deer hunters. We had deer leases. One time we had a 5,000-acre deer lease and it had ranch roads on it. It was fun, but you needed a Jeep to get around that because you ain't going to drive your car on that road. And so what kind of road? They've been tearing up I-10 west. Last time I went to San Antonio they tore up miles and miles of it because it's finally wore out. Those heavy trucks have worn the big old and you ought to see that road how it's built. I mean it's got a roadbed that goes way down. I mean it's dug way down in the deep. It's got all these layers of underlayment and then you've got the concrete. It's not asphalt, it's concrete. Asphalt doesn't last Concrete. So if they're going to patch a part of a road, I mean it's a big, big big deal.
Speaker 1:Say your faith, confess with the mouth, believe in the heart. The word confession is the Greek word homo legeo. It literally means to say the same word, in our case, say the same word as your covenant says. Your covenant is written down. You say the same thing as the covenant says. Your covenant is written down. You say the same thing as the covenant says. If the covenant says you were healed 1 John, 2, 28, then that's your confession I was healed. You don't even have to say I'm believing from my healing. You can just say it right out of your mouth I was healed. Thank God, I've been healed.
Speaker 1:You might have every symptom you ever had. You may have new symptoms, you may be having to go to the doctor and receive treatment, you may be. You know, gladys is under treatment. She's going to doctors, she's going, she's receiving treatment at home, and she's so forth and so on. We've got to be around that world. But you know, our confession is that she was healed and is healed. Talk about it all the time. We reinforce it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the x-rays show that she's got a fractured pelvis. The x-ray shows that we found out after the fact that she's fractured her hip socket. We didn't know that until last week. So she's been on a hip that's damaged, putting weight on it, and so now she's got to take the weight off of it. She can't continue with the PT until the bones heal in her hip.
Speaker 1:So what are we saying? Well, we're saying she's healed already. She's got supernatural healing. It's been going on for over a month now. She fell on the 7th of August and today is the 15th. So it's been five weeks of healing X-ray.
Speaker 1:So well, I see evidence of. Well, I'm glad you see the evidence, but the evidence that I know of is in my heart and in my mouth. I mean, they're seeing it on the X-ray now that there's bone growth in that hip and in that pelvis, but our confessions it's already done. It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen down the road, next week, next month, whatever time frame the doctors have. We already have it. Are we lying? No, we're calling things that be not as though they were. It's our confession. We're building a road. I need her back on her feet so she can take back over. Tell me what to do. I'm tired of guessing what I'm supposed to do every day. Gladys is not telling me what to do now, and so I don't know what to do.
Speaker 1:So with the heart, man believes, and with the mouth confession is made unto. With the heart man believes unto healing, and with the mouth confession is made unto when you actually manifest it. You keep saying it. You keep saying it until you know with the mouth man believes. With the heart, man believes. With the heart, man believes, and with the mouth confession is made unto Whatever it is that you have a right to in your covenant.
Speaker 1:So what we believe, then, about any particular thing, is dependent upon what we've heard of the word of God. When I say heard, I don't mean just heard with these ears. I'm talking about revelation, I'm talking about the light turns on on the inside of you, and that's not necessarily instantaneously. When you hear it with these ears here, you know you have to turn that word over and you have to meditate on it and study it out and you become fully persuaded. Like like Abraham, he became fully persuaded that what God had promised he was able also to perform. When did he became fully persuaded that what God had promised he was able also to perform? When did he get fully persuaded? When he was totally incapable of fathering a child and his wife was incapable of bearing one. That's when he became fully persuaded, when it was impossible in the natural.
Speaker 1:So that takes some doing on our part. I mean, god's not just going to pour it into your spirit all by himself, and let you know, you're going to have to take the word of God and get it, get it illuminated into your spirit, man, and then we give voice to what we believe. You can't just believe it, you've got to give voice to it and boy I tell you, you start giving voice to what you believe. And here comes faith Memorial expressway. I mean, you are building that road. It's going to carry the heaviest cargo that you've got coming Glory to God. It's going to take a whole lot of cargo to reap this final harvest before Jesus comes. So how many of you are willing to build a road, better road than what you've built, see?
Speaker 1:I mean, you know, sometimes, when we're not see inconsistency, lies the power when we're inconsistent. You know, teaching people how to talk is a lifelong thing, because, you know, we all start the same way talking wrong. We're programmed to talk wrong. That's how we're born. We're born in a fallen world. The whole world is programmed negatively. The spirit of this age is a spirit that floats around and infects your thinking. You know, in Isaiah 55, god told Isaiah you know, my ways are higher than your ways, my thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Which that was the end of the story. It'd be terrible. But no, here are his ways, here are his thoughts. We can start thinking like God thinks. We can start speaking like he speaks Because, let's face it, everything we see came out of his mouth. So that means that everything we see in our life can come out of our mouth if we believe it. Amen, are you all with me now?
Speaker 1:So how many of you you know you're in a profession or in a trade where you have a certain language you have to speak. I think about IT people, I think about anybody in the medical field, I think about anybody in the engineering field. Lots of places, airlines, aircraft, pilots Now you've got a certain language that you've got to master to communicate to your colleagues or you're in trouble. And so we've so casually, you know, because of a lack of teaching and a lack of diligence, we're so casual about our new language. When we get saved, we don't take to heart what we're saying out of our mouth. We might say something good one moment and then the next few minutes after that we undo it with a negative confession. I know that none of you are like that. I'm the only one in the whole room that's like that.
Speaker 1:I've had to say more than once oh Lord, I pray. A crop failure on that last day. See, but inconsistency is going to cause your road. It's not going to get built, it's going to have weaknesses, it's going to have holes, it's going to have washouts, it's not going to carry what it is that God wants for you to have. So we've got to. You know we got. I want to get you encouraged today. Just let the Word. You know we've been teaching on growing your faith.
Speaker 1:This is kind of akin to growing your faith when you grow your faith, you've got to grow your vocabulary. I did eight weeks on one Wednesday night, series of Wednesday nights, eight Wednesday nights on developing your vocabulary for victory. I preached on it for eight weeks. I think we've still got the media out there somewhere. But I mean, nobody can play a CD anymore. How many of you want to buy all the ex-CDs we have? No, I'm just joking, all right. So five confessions to build your faith road, or I like to say, faith memorial expressway, praise God.
Speaker 1:The first one is found there, in verse 9, romans 10, that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, or in other words, if you will confess that Jesus is Lord and you've got to confess, jesus is Lord over everything that you're doing and facing. And who is Jesus? Well, he's the second person of the Godhead. He's seated at the right hand of the father. But another thing Jesus is. He's the word made flesh, jesus is the word. So then, that means the word is Lord. The word is supreme in your life, it's at the top of the top, it supersedes and precludes any other word Word of a doctor, word of a CPA, word of anybody, a naysayer. So the word is Lord. Jesus is Lord. That's so simple.
Speaker 1:Well, you know, it's the simple things that I find people get kind of so sophisticated. If you've been in church 30, 40 years, you kind of tend to look at yourself like you're a veteran and you kind of turn the learning part off because you think you've already heard it all and so it's easy to let things slip that you used to do all the time. So let this just be a checklist. Check up on yourself, check up on are you declaring Jesus as Lord? I mean, I'm not talking about trying to get saved now. I'm talking about doing what the word of faith says to do Believe in your heart, confess with your mouth, and I confess that the word is Lord.
Speaker 1:Jesus is Lord, he's Lord of all, he's Lord over America. Whether we recognize it or not, jesus is Lord over the USA has nothing to do with whether the USA is following the Lord. See, some people don't want to say that they don't want to say Jesus. Well, jesus is not the Lord. Yes, he is. Who are you to say he's not Lord? See, you're off base and you've got Christians that are saying things that are going against God's word. Jesus is Lord over the whole shoot match. Are you kidding? He's Lord over Putin? He's Lord over the whole shoot match. Are you kidding? He's Lord over Putin? He's Lord over everything. Whether they recognize it is another matter, totally separate. Amen.
Speaker 1:So Jesus is Lord over Satan through us, as we confess Jesus is Lord and confess his word. We speak that word, every one of you that came up for prayer. Jesus is Lord and confess his word. We speak that word, Every one of you that came up for prayer. Jesus is Lord over my mind. Praise God, I've been healed. My soul is healed. I'm no longer broken hearted. I was broken hearted but thank God, I've been healed. You know, I've been delivered. I was bruised, but now he destroyed the yoke of bondage that that bruise caused. Years ago, god showed me a picture of somebody. When they get hurt, when they bruised, they have shackles. It's just like they're putting handcuffs and leg irons. They can move around, but they're hindered, they're restricted. See, some of you have been set free. You're going to realize this in a few more days how free you are. What happened down here is real Spiritual Glory to God. I haven't given this testimony in a while, but I feel in my heart that Jesus is. Lord.
Speaker 1:Gladys and I moved to Corpus Christi during the depression of the mid-80s. In Houston we had a depression. Everywhere else in the country was a recession, but here was a depression, especially in real estate and the oil business. Oil was $6 a barrel. They laid everybody off. I had 16 van pools that stopped at my corner. I lived on the corner in my subdivision. There used to be 16 van pools, so almost everybody on my street was an executive going downtown. They hadn't. You know back then. You know, because of Carter and all these, you turn your thermostat down to 60 and wear a sweater and all the energy crisis stand in line with gas. Nobody remembers that. Y'all are so young. You didn't live through that, but I lived through it. And until Obama and Biden came along, carter was the worst president I think we've ever had. But now he's been superseded by the vacationer in chief, who just lays on the beach and eats ice cream but anyway still calls himself president, but anyway. So it went down to no vanpools and nobody was buying any houses.
Speaker 1:I got a job in Corpus and moved down there and eventually it followed me down there and eventually, I mean, you know, we had to move back. God directed me to come back to Houston and we were homeless. I had to move in with my sister. I don't mind saying it. I mean I had no money back to Houston and, and we were homeless, I had to move in with my sister. I don't mind saying I mean I had no money for a rent house, much less any kind. I'm a home builder but I can't even rent something. My credit is shot, I'm broke. And so, thank God, my sister, their family allowed us to live there and then they moved. After that we stayed in the house, but I was praying and I'd just been laid off of the job that I'd had for about a year. The guy just, you know he wasn't making enough money and so he was getting ready to retire. So he wanted to. You know, he wanted to just end our business.
Speaker 1:I was president of a remodeling company, but I had gotten a word in 1987, when I was reading my Bible, isaiah 45,. Let me read it to you. Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus. And when I read that, you know Cyrus was a Gentile king of Persia and God called him anointed. But he's a Gentile, but I mean it was my name there. Thus saith the Lord to John Griner, mine anointed, whose right hand I have strengthened, to subdue nations before him, and I will loose the loins of kings to open before him the two-leaved gates, and the gates shall not be shut. And I will go before thee and I will make the crooked places straight, I will break in pieces the gates of brass, I'll cut us under the bars of iron and I will give thee the treasures of darkness, the hidden riches of secret places, so that you may know that I, the Lord which call thee by thy name, am your God. I've changed it just a little bit. I'm the God of Israel, but you know he's going to prove to me through his, his, this, this word. He gave it to me.
Speaker 1:I started, I started speaking it, I started believing it when I was broke. I had a job, but I was still broke. I wasn't getting paid enough to even pay all the bills. And then that job ended, and so God began to deal with me about getting back in the home building business. And I'm broke. How do you get into a home building business when you have nothing but God? Just you know, he just kept reminding me there's something better, there's something. Just my spirit. See my spirit, not my eyes and my ears and my reason.
Speaker 1:And so I started praying. I said, god, I'm going to sow a seed. We've got $35 in the bank, $35 in the bank. We're going to write a $25 check tonight, a Wednesday night offering, and you know that leaves you $10. And I don't know how the bank didn't close the account, but they didn't.
Speaker 1:And I said, lord, I need 1,000 fold. I need to be like Israel. You know, lord, make you 1,000. Moses spoke over Israel. Lord, make you 1,000 times more numerous than you are today. I said, 100 fold won't work for me. I need 1,000. I need 25,000. I'm believing for 25,000 in my plan. So you have to have a plan and then God can invade your plan and move. You See, if you're going to sit there and wait, how can God guide you? You've got to get moving.
Speaker 1:So I started moving in my faith toward and you know what's 25,000? Well, it wouldn't put me in the building business, but would put me in the business of repairing all the houses and some of these subdivisions that were vacant, and Bear Creek happened to be one that had over 1,000 vacant houses with broken glass squatters trying to move in there, and that's before we had open borders. You better not have an empty house, because things are different now. And so I had a plan, a business plan. I was going to go to a lender and say, hey, I'll take care of these houses, you give me a retainer, you give me cost plus and I'll make sure that the houses are clean and the yards are mowed and ready to sell to the next investor or buyer, or however you're going to do it. I had a business plan all figured out. I'd prayed about this. Here's my seed money.
Speaker 1:And so then, simultaneously, here's this man at Lakewood. He came up to me and says, john, I can't get you out of my mind. I'll just wake up in the morning and I'm praying for you. And I can't, man, I don't know what is going on. I said, well, I'm trying to get back in the home building business, but I'm not really looking for a partner.
Speaker 1:And so we had lunch together our families. And he said you know, I woke up this morning, sunday morning, so there's Sunday noon having lunch. He said I woke up this morning and just right as I was gaining consciousness I'm kind of halfway between asleep and awake I heard this voice of many waters and he leaned across the table and he said that voice told me prosper like that. And he, his eyes lit up. And he said that voice told me prosper like that. And he, his eyes lit up and he was real dramatic with it, you know. And I looked right back at him. I said that's a command, pointed right at him and his eyes bulged. He said that's what brother Osteen said. He'd already told the story to brother Osteen. I said that's a command.
Speaker 1:I just really think we ought to be in business. I said well, I'm not looking for a partner, I'm just looking for some money. You know, $25,000 is what I'm looking for. And he was one of the ones that God put in my heart to go and agree with me for this $25,000. And I had told him at the time. I said you know, god gave me you because he knew you could believe. For that kind of money. You're used to that kind of money. Not everybody can believe for $25,000. I'm not looking for a loan, I'm looking for money. I've sown my seed. I want money. It's got to come. See, my faith had built a road and my cargo is coming. See, it didn't make any sense. It seemed a little arrogant, to be honest with you, but I just followed what the Holy Ghost told me to do.
Speaker 1:I had three men at Lakewood. He was one of them, and when I went to his house, you know, he asked me to come to his house. I'd been to his house before, lived in a mansion and made a bunch of money trading oil back in the 80s, and so I said now, look, I'm not looking for the money from you, I just want you to agree with me. God will bring it. Don't get the idea, I've got my hand out. I don't have my hand out to anybody. I'm not coveting anybody, I'm not looking for anything, I'm just agreement. So, on the heels of all that, god did something. He started turning in this man's heart and he said well, look. I said, all right, I'll tell you what. I'll pray about it. I just want. I'm not looking for a partner. I've had partners, and don't you know, it's hard to home. Building business is tough and you know, when you start giving parts of the company away, it's hard to make enough to satisfy everybody. So I said, uh, I'll have to pray, so while I'm going out of town, when I get back we'll talk.
Speaker 1:So a week went by and I went to the Lord and the Lord said I want you to have a partner, I want you to have someone to be accountable to. So I got comfortable and I felt like it was the Lord. Now he didn't call me. So 10 days went by and I thought, yeah, he didn't call me, so I better call him. I called him and he'd cooled off the whole thing. He'd cooled off. I mean he was stammering and stuttering and making excuses and I let him off the phone. I just hung the phone up and I said, lord, what in the world is going on? I said I didn't even want a partner to begin with and you told me I needed a partner. I agreed to have a partner and now this guy's backing out. I mean, what is going on? You told me Lord, you're the one that told me thus saith the Lord John Griner might anoint it.
Speaker 1:And I started quoting these verses back to the Lord in a kind of an aggravated tone, which I don't recommend doing, because he does know how to make you feel about that small. You said you'd strengthen nations before me You'd loose Lord. You said you'd loose the loins of kings. And I took a breath like that and I was going to say and I opened the two-leaf guy, all that, and he says where do kings live? Just like that, inserted himself in the middle of my diatribe when do kings live? And all of a sudden it hit me Kingwood is where he lived and King's Forest, which is an exclusive section of Kingwood, 11,000 square foot mansion I will open, I will loose the loins of kings to open before you the two-leaf gates. And then I saw his gates. He's got double gates, double wrought iron gates on his driveway, god painted.
Speaker 1:I saw his house while I was having my diatribe and I knew God's plan was for him to be my partner and yet he was having cold feet. And so I said Lord, I'm sorry, I've raised my voice to you. I'm just not mad at you, I'm just frustrated in general. But I'm not frustrated anymore. I know your plan. What do you want me to do? You need to call him and tell him exactly what. Oh God, I can't do that Now. I'm prophesying money out of his pocket. Yeah, you tell him. Okay.
Speaker 1:So I called him back, said well, I said it doesn't matter, I've accepted what you said. But I prayed after we hung up and I've just got a. The Lord won't let me along. Tell you what happened when I, when I prayed, I told him exactly what I just told you. He started weeping. He said oh John, it's just fear. The government's after me, the IRS is after me, ferc is after me.
Speaker 1:You know all these government agencies, letter agencies, see, we talk about the letter agencies right now, but in the 80s they were just as evil as they are now. You know they rule. These are unelected officials that rule over the country. You can't get rid of them, you can't fire them, you can't recall them. And they had passed a law retroactive that made what he did illegal. How is that constitutional? The answer is it's not. But who is he going to be able to fight the government? They have an unlimited supply of money and lawyers, and eventually they broke him. Eventually they got him and eventually they got my company because he was the money behind it.
Speaker 1:But anyway, go back to my word. See, god did lose his loins. God did change his mind. He wrote a check to 100,000, not 25, 100,000, and we started building houses in West University place. Come on, lift your hands right now.
Speaker 1:I mean, jesus is Lord, he's Lord. That word was Lord. I had to declare it. I had to. In the face of everything to the negative, I had to hold onto that. Are y'all with me? Now? Everybody say Jesus is Lord. Oh, thank God. It's so basic, but we forget sometimes that this word reigns supreme when you believe it in your heart and you confess it. Homo legeo, say the same thing as with your mouth. All right, another one, really good one to have. First Peter. I've got four more here. It won't take me long to go through them and we'll have communion together. First Peter, chapter five, verse five, verse 5, excuse me, verse 7. It says well, let's go back to verse 6.
Speaker 1:Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time, casting all of your care on him. Him, for he careth for you. So, really, worry and fretting is a form of pride. What Read the Bible right there? Because when you think you're so important that you can change anything yourself by giving a whole lot of thought and worry and fretting and all of that. So you need to cast all of your care on him, for he cares for you, and that's not something you do every day. You do it one time in your life. This is where people miss it. They just they keep doing it over and over. Well, didn't you believe it the last time when you read it in the Amplified? You cast the whole of your care once and for all on him, for he cares for you and watches over you.
Speaker 1:So it's humility to not have a care. It's a humility to say, well, glory to God, god is watching over me. There's not a thing in the world happening to me that he's not watching over me carefully. He's guarding me, he's protecting me. Ha ha ha, glory to God. I have not a care. Take care, pastor. No, thank you. How many, you know?
Speaker 1:Every time, you know, people say that, oh, take care, and I don't, you know, usually say no, thank you. I just say it under my breath. I smile, you know, because that's just a normal colloquialism. See, we've gotten so far away from God. We've forgotten what the Bible says about everything we're not to have care, we're not to. That doesn't mean that we're not concerned and that we don't pay any attention to something. That's not what it means. It means you don't take any anxious care or anxious thought. You take no anxious thought. Jesus said that and Peter's just repeating what Jesus already said. You'll find that over and over in the epistles that they preached and taught what Jesus preached and taught it's word of faith. So when you say, when you confess I don't have a single care, you might be tempted.
Speaker 1:You know, when I got home from the hospital the night that we discovered Gladys broke her pelvis and I had to leave her in the hospital, I got home and you know, the devil attacked my mind. I mean, you know, I just laid there in bed. I started thinking about what was ahead of us rolling around in your head and, uh, I knew it was the devil and I knew it was the devil. Sometimes it's good to know when the devil is after you. Instead of owning that thought, instead of saying I'm thinking that I wasn't thinking it, he was trying to get me to think it. Is this helping anybody?
Speaker 1:Some of you that came up here, you need to learn how to master these thoughts that come your mind, because they're not your thoughts, it's outside influence. The devil has access to your mind through your five senses. He has access, but he can't touch your spirit. So, anyway, these thoughts started coming to my mind and and, uh, you know, I just uh, I thought of romans 8, 26.
Speaker 1:The spirit himself maketh intercession for us, so we, the holy spirit, helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what to pray for, as we are, but the spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered, with groanings which cannot be uttered, with groanings which cannot be uttered in intelligible speech. I have prayed with groanings groaning in the spirit. So you're not groaning like groaning crybaby, whiny pot. Groaning in the spirit is like giving birth to something and I, with this sadness trying to come on me, this care trying to come on me, I realized the Holy Ghost wanted me to travail a little bit, and so I just travailed in bed that night. I just started going, oh, but I wasn't groaning from the devil, I was groaning to bring, like a woman has to holler and groan to bring forth a child. It hurts. It's very similar to that. You know, paul said to the Galatians I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. They were so immature they were still going, trying to go back to Judaism. He said I stand in doubt of you. Here I preach the word to you and you're wanting to go back under Judaism. You're trying to keep the law for rights and you can't do that. I'm travailing. So he got in his prayer closet and began to groan and travail and cry, not as a victim, but to birth Christ in them. See, I began to birth our deliverance. Are y'all with me now? Don't have a single care. Glory to God.
Speaker 1:Number three, 23rd Psalm. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. In fact, one time I was saying that and I thought about the 10 commandments Thou shalt not, thou shalt not, thou shalt not want. I took it as a commandment Thou shalt not want. So then, everything that I desire is met. I do not want. That's what I say.
Speaker 1:Now, when I read that Psalm, I don't even say shalt not, I say do not, I do not want. The Lord is my shepherd. I don't want for a thing. I mean. All of my needs are supplied. My father takes care of me in grand style. Hallelujah, I do not want because, why he leads me in the right ways. All my needs are supplied. See the more you say it in the face of debt, in the face of insufficiency, in the face of everything that you're facing right now. I mean, this economy is terrible. The Democrats are actually trying to say it's better than it was four years ago. Oh God, they are from another planet and I wish we could ship them off to that other planet. It would be great, wouldn't it be? Anyway, get anything out of this. Say Jesus is Lord. I don't have a single care. The Lord's my shepherd. I do not want Isaiah 53. Oh, I use this almost every day, isaiah. I was in 45. Let me get back to 53 here.
Speaker 1:This is the prophet Isaiah prophesying about Jesus. Verse 3,. He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid, as it were, our faces from him. He was despised and we esteemed him not, surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows? And yet we did esteem him. Stricken, smitten of god and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, and with his stripes we are healed. First, p.28, by his stripes you were healed. Past tense this is looking forward to Jesus coming. And 1 Peter is after we were. It happened at the cross that we were healed. I like Matthew 8.17.
Speaker 1:Jesus is quoting this verse. He said, and he's living this verse out, and it says in verse 16, and when the evening was come, they brought unto him many talking about Jesus. They brought unto him many who were possessed with demons, and he cast out the spirits with his word and he healed all that were sick. That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet. We just read it. That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, we just read it.
Speaker 1:Himself bare our sicknesses and took our infirmities. The word infirmities means frailties of mind and or body. Amen, glory to God. So I just say it this way Every sin, sickness, sorrow and lack was laid on Jesus. Therefore, I'm free.
Speaker 1:See, my confession is based on the Word. See, it's a confession. Are you all with me now? Come on, we've got to quit complaining about all the stuff that we're going through. Let's speak what the Word says. Let's build our road. Faith is just waiting to carry this cargo, but the road is broke down. He can't go over that road. You know something might happen to the cargo. Let's build that road.
Speaker 1:And the final one 1 Corinthians 1. Oh, I heard a message within just weeks of being saved by Charles Capps on this message, right here, on this verse 1 Corinthians, chapter 1, verse 30. But of him are you, in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. That, according as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. See, we don't have to brag on ourself. We're not bragging on ourself, we're bragging on him.
Speaker 1:I posted on my Facebook page the other day you know, I was a sinner. I'm not a sinner saved by grace. I was a sinner, but I'm not a sinner saved by grace. Oh man, I mean people came unglued on there. Maybe some of you saw it. I mean there was lots of discussion, but I answered one guy that was so offended by my remark that I would dare to say that I'm not a sinner saved by grace. I just said look, I'm not bragging on me, I'm bragging on him. I'm bragging on 2 Corinthians 5, 17 through 21. He made him be sin for me, who knew no sin, that I might be made the righteousness of God in him. I'm the righteousness of God in him. I'm the righteousness of God in him. I'm in him. Therefore I'm righteous.
Speaker 1:It's not about me sinning or not sinning. I don't want to sin. I do sin from time to time. I still do. I don't like it. Every time I do I confess my sin right now and then it's gone. So it's not about whether I sin or not. I'm not a sinner. I'm not ever going to be a sinner. Because who am I? I am a spirit. My spirit never has sinned. If my spirit sinned I wouldn't be saved, I'd be lost. So I have never sinned.
Speaker 1:That will really blow people when you say that, because people don't know they're a spirit, live in a body and have a soul, mind, will and intellect. They don't know that. They don't know that. So I don't recommend using that because it just makes people mad and once you offend your brother it's hard to win them back. So I just he is. Jesus is my wisdom. When I'm facing anything, jesus is my wisdom on this thing. Holy Ghost, just show me what he's saying about this. Jesus is my righteousness when I'm feeling like you know, just anytime you miss the mark, you know you've got a kind of a temptation to be ashamed to be condemned. That's not God. God's not condemning you. God may correct you, but he doesn't condemn you. It's your own spirit that doesn't agree with what you just did and you've got to build your spirit up enough to where your soul shuts up about condemning you. I can't believe you did that. That was horrible, you know. Get over it. It's under the blood. Now We've got to develop quick.
Speaker 1:A lot of people are raised in a certain religious tradition where they have to just weep and cry and moan and groan and have this big pity party. I won't say his name, but he's, you know, big preacher, pentecostal, very popular at the time, and he sinned twice, caught twice breaking his marriage vows Horrible, horrible scandal. And he gets up on television and says oh God, take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Well, that's Old Testament, that's David. We got a better covenant brother. God's not going to do this.
Speaker 1:Confess your sin, and why do you want to confess it to millions of people? Why do you want to get us in on this mess? Why don't you go home and make amends to your family and your wife and get out of the ministry for a season and get some help, which he never did? So I treasure the Word of Faith, I treasure these confessions. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I'm sanctified by the blood of Jesus. In him I am sanctified. I've been set apart, not because of me, but because of him. I'm redeemed by the blood of the lamb. I'm not my own. I've been bought with a price. The currency of redemption is the blood of Jesus. These are things that I confess every day.
Speaker 1:I go over them all in prayer in one form or another. Why do I do that? Because I want my road strong. I want my road without a ripple. I want my road that can take this cargo. Because I don't want any delays, I want I listen. You know, remember a few years ago we had this, this uh, uh, uh supply chain problem. You know, remember a few years ago we had this supply chain problem. You know the supply chain. That's when the Democrats took over and the supply chain all got interrupted. You know what? I don't want any interruption to my supply chain. I am building my faith road. Faith Memorial Expressway is bringing all the promises of God right to my doorstep. Come on, lift your hands and receive today. Hallelujah, everybody say I'm building my doorstep. Come on, lift your hands and receive today Hallelujah, everybody say I'm building my faith road. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Did you get anything out of this today? Very simple, simple message Hallelujah, hallelujah, amen.
